    Bike lights?

Basically, have some cheap $5ish lights in my bike that serve no purpose other than preventing me from getting pulled over.

Trying to increase my invisibility, since I've had a few close calls recently, even while having the right of way.

Anyone here experienced with bike lights? Looking for something relatively cheap, with a decent brightness (doesn't need to be the brightest, because battery life is also going to be a factor with how often I'm out and about on the bike).

Mainly looking at a taillight first for people behind me. Then will be looking for a headlight when can afford. (I usually just slow down for people turning out since they can't see my weak ass light as it is now)

    Always improves my invisibility.

More seriously, try something like this off of Amazon:

So you don't cover just front and back visibility, but side visibility also:

As for a front and back set that both lasts a long-ass time, and is manufactured by a company that's been in the business for decades:

While this may be a little extreme, a co-worker of mine who used to ride his bike to work actually did a nice mod on his bike.

He made a cheap clone of this:

He got some double sided phosphorus tape and took strips and applied it around the rim of the bike on both sides of the wheels. He then connected up an LED source that provided light directly on the strips so that when the wheels turned, the tape soaked up the light and made the rims glow.

A idea from when I rode to school that'd be cheap for now that could complement any lights; get some cheap reflector tape (They proly have a lot of it around right now b/c it's close to Halloween) and put some on your pants and shoes and back of your shirt.

I admit I did without lights but if I had to do that again, I'd be looking too; had some scary situations (including a rear ending) that might of been prevented by lights. So I'll be watching this too. ^^ (Luckily I never got anything worse than a VERY BADLY scraped side..)

There are two basic price categories here.

Are you looking to see or be seen?

If you're looking to be seen there are plenty cheap lights that you can mount on your handle bar and seat/forks $10-$20 each. Go to your local store and check them out there. If you want to actually see and be able to bike fast at night without fear of killing someone its going to cost you more...I just bought this one:

Cheap, American built, good warranty and bright as all fuck. I will be blinding people in no time.

    Front:
I love this light so much, fastens to your handle bars no problem, can take it with you so no one takes it, usb rechargeable (big selling point)

    Rear:
Haven't found a rear light that I like as much as the front, the USB rechargeable rubberized one does not fasten nearly as intuitively as the front does, so I use this one which uses a bracket it slides and clicks onto:

both are bright as hell, I honestly sometimes turn the front one off if I am riding with a friend, but riding solo or on side streets, it's a beast, love it

    Any opinions on this one?

Can't find reviews for it anywhere and not really good with specs, but 350 lumens seems like it'd be a pretty bright light to me

strap on that one might give you trouble. bright light though - I doubt the batteries lat as long as they claim.
