GOP has the Benjamin Button disease. They're slowly regressing from conservative, responsible adults into small children who throw tantrums and stare too intently at fire.

It's part of the overarching argument that soft diplomacy doesn't work, that not being hard, fast, critical, threatening, and retaliatory sets the opponent up for opportunity.

Or, in GOP terms:

The president is weak for not drawing a line in the sand immediately, for not giving the consulate more troops, and should be ousted out of office for not shifting drone strikes to Libya.

I think the election will end up pretty close to what the polls say now, With Obama winning the popular vote by a small amount with around 300 votes in the EC. I don't see anything else happening that will shift things much.

Had NBC on behind me all morning and it's kinda annoying hearing how close some think it was with the debate, nevermind virtually zero mention of Romney's heightened aggressiveness beyond "both candidates went at it" when, really, half the time Romney kept running between Obama and the moderator to try and get a word in. Today show also had Biden and Ryan do some quickie interviews, and Lauer tried to get info on that 5-point plan and Ryan just dodging a-fucking-gain. I'm honestly puzzled how some might think these guys have given any kind of concrete answer.

PBS, NPR and C-SPAN have great coverage.

Also, PBS and NPR don't really care about getting their funding cut. It would hurt a little, but I believe nationally they get like 80%+ funding from donations and foundations.

They sign a rule sheet before everyone of these things, and no one adheres to them. No going overtime, no jumping in to others speechs, no moderator comments, no audience, no tangenting off to a different subject, no mudslinging, etc.


Maybe if they had a forum with a purpose, and a mod with a backbone, these would actually be interesting.

It's very funny I think that Obama could have such a huge lead and then almost lose all of it from a superior display of body language and charisma from Romney in the first debate.
