Sorry, i'm going to keep complaining when people waste their money on things i don't want and didn't ask for. If you don't know what i want, save your money and buy me nothing. The point isn't that they're complaining about the color, or the wrong model, or even the wrong product altogether. The point is that they're complaining about a GIFT. It's not something they're entitled to. It's something that somebody got for them out of love and caring. You don't complain about gifts EVER.
There's a difference between grilling your gifters over getting you a shitty overpriced chinese-made TN panel instead of the nice ASUS IPS that's $5 more expensive and bitching that it's the wrong color.

Oh, whoops, i quoted the wrong post.
not really, as above bro pointed out you are entitled to nothing, and the act is compassion and caring made manifest. that's the point, not how shitty or unshitty the gift is.
you can be a misanthropic bastard that cries and says he'd rather have nothing but the act is more important than whatever possession you come up on
No, there's still a difference when they ask you what you want and then ignore any stipulation you might give and listen to the 17 year old at Best Buy instead of your expertise on RGB gamut and black levels, which are important because you'll be using this screen for web development. Same applies to buying a mechanic some tools from Sears; it's a nice gesture, but you don't know the difference when it comes to better steel, slimmer sockets, or tighter ratchets from Snap-On or Mac.
"Frankly sir, this horse you've presented to me seems a tad bit lame and malnourished and I haven't the time nor resources to nurse it back to health, not to mention he seems undertrained and may actually be a danger to anyone who might wish to ride him once his strength returns; hence you've gifted me nothing but a liability, and I fully expect to find a cracked tooth when I look it in the mouth."
Don't get me wrong, these little bitches whining about getting the wrong phone or the color of it do need to be slapped.
I'm going to go ahead and say stop depending on other people to get you what you want then. You should accept gifts with thanks and move on, knowing that you shouldn't depend on that person to get you exactly what you want. Being resentful to someone for being generous is just sad.
they could give me the gimpiest poo-brained horse in history and i'd fry up some horse steak not moan and bitch like an ingrate over a gift, a gift which by its nature of being a gift i have no entitlement to and no expectations of
a liability ? jesus christ sell the fucking thing on ebay or donate it to some charity or take it out to a shooting range and watch it make pretty explodey lights or if you're just so overwhelmed by the awfulness of the expression of generosity and love by someone in your life that cares about you take the five seconds to throw it in the garbage and VOILA your liability is gone your burden is lifted you may at least rest your weary head
this damn entitlement generation i swear every child needs to spend at least a year where they are poor as po gets or spend a year without receiving any presents at all for Christmas or their birthday or anything else because no one in their life cares about them
not to be a faggy hippy but then maybe they'll be cool if the gift sucks and is worthless because owning something new you didn't pay for isn't the point
life is suffering :'[
Just wait till they hit their 20s when gifts are much less awesome. What will they complain about then?

I honestly thought those facebook/twitter posts were fake or few and far between. America is depressing.

Not to defend shitty rich kids with iPads... but there is such a thing as a white elephant. Just ask those old people on fixed incomes that couldn't afford the taxes on their Oprah-mobiles.
I'd love to see those parents do what the father did in Texas whose daughter bad mouthed him on facebook. Take their new gadgets and blow the shit out of them.

Didn't mean to spark this big debate, but this is what I mean in a nutshell. Of course I'm glad people care enough to spend money on me at all, but 99% of the time my parents would bug me for a list, so when I'd provide it and get a ton of shit not even on the list, that's fucking annoying. What is the point of a list if you're not going to follow it?
A wonderful view of why Kidney stones provide some of the worst pain imaginable.
