Idk how much brain energy you're devoting to this, but its not difficult to say "they went back on their word about not doing this harmful thing to their employees that their employees clearly don't enjoy".

Like, it took seconds to say that and then poof, its done. Idk how hard you think it is to call out a company for lying and being misleading, but it actually isn't that exhausting to just admit they lied. You dont even have to care about it, but pretending its no big deal is kinda shitty when the employees themselves are saying it didn't have to be this way and they're exhausted from (some) working 16+hours a day for over a year at this point.

I don't understand why the hell people care this much about it. Even if they said "They promised" This isn't your profession, hell this isn't even your country. It's not slave labor, far from it. There are far greater things in this world that deserve the outrage that this is getting.

You don't understand because you choose not to care about it. I simply choose differently than you. Its not that complicated.

Someone with an Edgeworth profile should be able to understand at least that. Edgey is pretty good at lateral thinking later in the series.

I care about crunch in general cause i don't want people to, literally, suffer to make this product that I super enjoy. I cant do much about all the suffering in the world, but I have this little niche here that I enjoy and if game devs are saying "hey, crunch hurts us like this, and we'd like you to pressure our bosses to make chances so we dont do more crunch" then im all for it.

Its not a big ask. There are plenty of extra souls available to pad out teams so the fewer original devs dont have to work 16hrs/day. The company even vowed to not use crunch during this project, thats how you know its actually important and they're listening.

They lied, but they are def paying attention and crunch, AFAIK, is not as bad as it used to be, even though on the margins its still pretty bad at some companies.

I'm optimistic things will get better, but I also sometimes wonder if it wouldn't be a problem anymore if some of yall cared about the people making your games as much as those pixels on your screen.

Honestly I laugh more at the blizzard employees than anyone. Underpaid and crunched to hell but they stick around because "Its my dream to work on a game that I've loved for so many yeaaaarrrrs!" Burnt out of the industry within 3 years and then struggle to figure out what to do next because "my dream didn't turn out the way I thought it would..."

Bobby's laughing all the way to his next 5 mil quarterly bonus, while the grunts can't afford to eat off-campus with their salary.

That's the life they chose, though. It is what it is.
