Aw I just pre ordered yesterday
Limited Edition just arrived yesterday. ymmv
Ah fuck. I never even finished Disgaea 4. Not that this has anything to do with that.
I am really wanting this, but I am already getting Beyond today, and probably picking up Pokemans on Saturday. Then with juggling FFXIV. Yeesh.
Just went up on US PSN if anyone was waiting for it.
Just got mine today, haven't finished 4 though =/
Mine is out for delivery. I'm not sure I'll ever "finish" 4. I've done almost all the post game content, but holy fuck at the grinding I'd have to do to be able to take down the hardest fights.
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/...-today-on-ps3/Dood. This is your friend David from NIS America, and let me tell you, as a friend, that you might need to sit down for this. Breathe deep. Focus. Process these words that are hitting your eyeballs and shooting through your synapses: the latest installment of the fan-favorite strategy RPG series, Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness, is out now. Only for PS3, both in stores and as a Day 1 Digital download on PSN! Still breathing? Okay, good. Let’s get into it, dood.
If you don’t already know, Disgaea D2 follows Laharl, Etna, and Flonne in a whole new adventure. And I’ll tell you what, they’re looking pretty good in their fancy new HD sprite duds! With the characters looking sleeker, the gameplay’s been updated to match as well.
We’ve made tweaks to character customization and added a bunch of new systems so you can blast through battles and the Item World and show everyone who’s Overlord in your own customized style. Mount humanoids on monsters to perform massive attacks; engage the Master/Pupil system to get stat boosts, master weapons, and learn new skills; and tell the game what you really want out of battle with the new Cheat Shop.
On top of that, we have the free Legacy Pack costume DLC for Laharl, Etna, and Flonne available on PSN today for the first 30 days of the game’s launch, and Fuka and Desco characters for $2.99. You can also get free Raspberyl DLC if you get the official Prima strategy guide. Later on we’ll be rolling out some other series favorites, including Mao, Rozalin, and Adel — not to mention characters from other game titles like Marona (Phantom Brave), NISA (Hyperdimension Neptunia), and even Metallia from the upcoming The Witch and the Hundred Knight! Who knew everyone wanted to fight in the Netherworld?
Finally, let’s talk about the official Prima strategy guide for this game, because it’s a fine specimen of strategy guide — hardcover, 300-plus pages, and filled to the brim with all the info you need on the Netherworld. You’ll get beautiful artwork and insightful interviews with the people behind the game, in addition to the aforementioned free Raspberyl DLC. And each book will include one of three exclusive art lithographs for you to gaze upon.
I hope all this Disgaea D2 talk has got you riled up and itching to lay the million point beat-down on some baddies. And you can get a copy for $49.99. But wait! You won’t just get a game for that price, because that’s not how we do it at NIS America. No sir, you’ll be getting a 2-disc OST and awesome art print included with the game, because Prinny loves you, dood!

This game is easily the best of the series, having a lot of fun with it atm.
I'm still liking Valvatorez and co. more for the moment, but I'm only on chapter 3 so far.
Gameplay wise though, there's no contest that this is the best in the series. Lots of quality of life tweaks that are making it much more enjoyable so far. Tower attack kills giving full exp to each member, throw range isn't a straight line anymore, and the promotion option for characters to change them into higher tiers without having to reincarnate are some great changes.
I'm kind of feeling like they went a little too far in making it convenient, but I guess after 4 it's a nice "break" from the grind, heh.
Game has been sitting on my desk for a couple of days now, and wont be able to play it for a couple moreKilling me.
Yes to all of these things.
Never did much item world grinding in 4 but what they have here in D2 is phenomenal. I love that you have access to a base with an item assembly at all times. I need more fliers with footwear though, kind of slow going at level 20 when you can't just slip through everything to the exit.
Love the game so far, but there's some stuff I miss from D4. I hate weapon skills and being able to level everything with mana was awesome![]()
I don't know why but I have been thinking this is more like the adventure game on PSP or some weird spin off thingy. Should have read more about it/watch a videoSeeing as it's an sRPG I might get it
Never played 3 or 4 but feel like going back to the series.
Laharal is F'n hax with his evilty.
Kill 1 or 2 things and youre invincible for the rest of the map..
I liked Flonne's better. Flonne was my best character throughout the game, and continued to be my best one into the post game. Super long magic range = hax, whenever there's someone blocking a portal in the item world, I just move her out, snipe it, and then move my masked hero to the exit. Melee staff does some pretty decent damage in the regular game, too, especially after a few heals. Higher staff weapon skill level = more range, I think my flonne's current range is 4?
I had this one level, I think it was the one with the gap in the middle that you had to throw across, and some prinny boss, and a bunch of mages in the middle that I couldn't beat straight up at my current levels. I ended up putting my Flonne in range of one of the mages, and just curing herself to full every turn. 20 turns later she's at 200% and she just went around the map and killed everyone, then I threw her to the other side and killed everything there. >:D
Etna once you get her 2nd evility is just as amazing. 100% stat boost when it's only her (or prinnies) in the map. The 50% increased damage vs full hp is also good, although I replaced it with the magic knight's weakness exploitation one for now, as I'm using her as a mage with Flonne's hand-me-downs lol.
Game is overall a lot easier to break, but I honestly welcome it. It's still fun (and arguably a bit more fun since it doesn't take as long) and that's what matters.
