I received a in-store credit for the amount of $465.95

I was told the only way i could get cash if i were to trade a customer in the store for equal value.

1. I found a customer at the register who was buying a Samsung Galaxy III unlocked (799.99) with tax (855.99) Total Price = $855.99

2. I asked him if he wouldn't mind trading me 465.95 and i use my In-store Credit on his purchase. He said yes sure.

3. The amount owed was 855.99.

4. I swiped my card for 465.95

5. Remaining balance to be paid was 390.04

6. He gave the Register clerk - $860.04

7. She gave me my 465.95 and the remaining amount is 394.09

She entered $400.04 into register and it dispensed and took out 10$ in change

8. How much was the guy who gave 860.04 suppose to get back in change.

I ended up walking out with $460 and he had like 9-10 something dollars in change.
Iunno wtf happened am i bassically missing $5.95 and his change was only suppose to be 860.04-855.99 = $4.05

and 5.95 + 4.05 = $10 the change register clerk took out? split between us 2?

Is my math correct and the guy just got an extra $ 5.95?

He obviously doesn't owe you anything if you gave him a gift card, unless it wasn't a gift. In that case...he owes you the cost of the gift card.

You made sense up until the bolded part. Why did he give the clerk so much money. On line #7 if the clerk gave you $465.95 how did you then end up somehow walking out the door with less than that. Why was there two different remaining balances? There should have been only one. Why did she enter $400.04 into the register? Where the fuck did that amount even come from?

Good thing its not your store... I got permission from the Manager and LP's on site to do this.. the only rule was i had to be off the clock, off company time.
It was a Customer to Customer transaction except the Cashier (my friend as well) who handled the money (Middle man) except he walked out with 5$ more.
