Yeah I am really picky about what I eat. I avoid high grease foods and fast food like the plague also too much sugar is bad for me too. Food additives like partially hydrogenated oils seem to be bad too. And when I travel I rely heavily on anti-diarrheal medicine to be able to survive traffic and public transportation and the likes. For me it is mostly just a major inconvenience because I feel like I need to be close to a bathroom at all times. It is also embarrassing because it has cause some anxiety for me when being around co-workers or people I don't know really well because I do go to the bathroom so often. I wish that doctors knew more about the digestive system and how to fix these kinds of issues.

Thanks for the suggestion of the loperamide too. I will try it out. If you have any other tips I would be really grateful. I for the most part in daily life just cope with the symptoms rather than try to fix it which is fine most of the time except when I have a really bad day.

Well you've already figured out most of what I'd suggest: the types of foods to avoid, etc. A few I'd add: Caffeine and alcohol, onions/peppers/spicy stuff (Doesn't always cause D for me, but it sure makes it less pleasant), and lettuce. Lettuce is fucking terrible. Gives me the foulest kinds of gas if I'm doing decent, or the runniest runs if I'm not. Celery is the same. Any veggies like that- lots of water, some cellulose, not much else. Green beans and corn and carrots and such are fine for me.

If you find yourself getting raw/sore on bad days, try some Calmoseptine Ointment. It's OTC, so you can get it any pharmacy... but most don't keep any in stock, so you'll have to have them order it. Just put a dab on after each BM (make sure to get it as clean as possible first), works great. I never go anywhere without it. And yeah, unfortunately, the paying-attention-to-the-bathroom thing is kinda permanent. Just one of those things you have to do. Hopefully with loperamide it's not such an urgent concern, but you should still always make a note of where it is.

Maybe they told you to breathe deeper because you were taking little baby breathes that wasn't causing you to go under, and so they got impatient with you. and then one of them asked if your vitals (or whatever theyre judging your consciousness by) were good enough to begin and since you were still conscious, the answer was "no, theyre still going down).

That, or they were playing with your nipples.

I had to get put under when they took out my wisdom teeth. Was a bit nervous at first since I was still awake when they were strapping my arms down. I guess I may have been trying to fight it a bit too hard, whenever my eyes would close they said I'd jerk back awake. As far as the actual surgery went, I didn't feel a thing and don't remember waking up, but apparently I did. While they had strapped my arms down, but had neglected to do the same for my legs and I was told I started kicking shit. Before they had me go to the recovery room they checked to make sure I didn't do anything too terrible to my shins. If the bruises I got were any indication, I was really going at it.

As scary as being put under is fighting it just makes it worse, best thing to do is just clear your head and try to forget why you're even there as you lose consciousness. Ideally prepare your mind to embrace the knockout, think about how little sleep you got last night or how hungry you are (since you can't eat before general anesthesia, you should be).

When I got my wisdom teeth removed I apparently sleepwalked around the office during my post-op nap, a bunch of nurses had to grab me and guide me back to the chair (my dad got a kick out of it I'm told).

The first time I was put under for a hernia surgery I was told that I got violent when I started to come out and took a swing at a nurse so they knocked me back out for longer than they wanted.

wow! i've never gotten violent while under sedation/etc. I've gotten annoyed at nurses trying to save my life, and occasionally said some dumb stuff... but never anything physical. I wonder if its because when i'm about to have the procedures done, i am invariably fucking exhausted and ready for a nap. i hate mornings, but doctors don't.

Have you tried going of gluten for any length of time? My friend has celiac and he says that it can take a long time to get a proper diagnosis, typically he suggests that to anyone we know who suffers bowel troubles. It really does suck that doctors don't have a better idea of these issues, at first I thought celiac really sucked, but at least in that case its very clear what food you are supposed to avoid. :/

I tried going gluten and dairy free for a week and did not see any changes. I don't know if that is long enough but if I am miserable anyway I might as well eat foods I enjoy and be miserable. Same thing for dairy even though I am lactose intolerant I stopped eating dairy for a month at a different time and noticed no difference in how I felt.

This part sounds like a combination of being taken off of breathing support and strong pain medication. The stronger pain medications cause respiratory depression, slowing breathing. Being taken off of breathing support and having to deal with respiratory depression can cause blood oxygen saturation (the SpO2 value on the monitor) to drop below 90%, causing an alarm to go off, annoying the nurse so she goes and bugs you to breathe!

"Nope, they're still going down." -- "They're" is plural, but I think it refers to the jargon we use, "O2 SATS", even if it's oxygen saturation (of the blood), and not "saturations."

(I'm a registered nurse, but I haven't worked in a hospital since nursing school, so take what I say with a grain of salt please!)

Try a month, or at least two weeks. A week is pretty short for some types of symptoms to disappear. It takes a while to really work out all the junk that gets stuck in there.

You could also try probiotic yogurts (I use Activia). They seem to help me a little bit, but it's hard to say for sure. If nothing else, it makes for a good healthy snack. It's certainly not going to hurt anything, lol. the bacteria just isn't that type of bacteria.
