I have a colleague that lives near Newark. Anyone have pictures or video of the conditions there? Haven't heard from him in a couple hours.

Was in Nashville, TN for homecoming. About 2/3 of my friends from the Northeast are stranded until Wednesday or Thursday. I was like the last flight to land at BWI last night at 10:30 PM. It looks like we are going to get smoked in DC tonight. Rite Aid across the street looks like a bomb went off in it; all water / snacks / etc gone. My roommates and I thinking about going to a hurricane party and getting blasted as everyone's work closed their offices for today and tomorrow pretty much.

It's picking up a lot here now. Just lost power for 5 seconds too.
Wow. East Penn AAA has completely shut down. Nobody answering phones, nobody there. And they aren't even getting hit yet. CHICKENSHITS!

The worst thing that can happen is Sandy decides to be an asshole and goes stationary once it hits. Hurricanes slowing down to like 3-6mph once they hit land is the ultimate dickmove, Issac chilled in Louisiana for 3 days which is why the storm was much much worse than expected from a CAT1.
Sure people are going to lose power, bucket trucks will not go out to restore power until the winds drop below 35mph.

5 different radars in the NYC/Philly areas all indicate winds over 105 mph just 5,000 feet above ground level. #Sandy
Public transit service shutting down at 2 pm in MA.
and I get to leave for work in 2 hours... yay
It's pretty crazy seeing all these pics of the devastation in places that are only 30-40 miles from me. I'm here in north rockland about 25m N of manhattan and all we got is a light drizzle (which only started an hour ago) and about 25mph winds. Been windy here since last night though. Didn't have to go to work but I know it's worse in the city!
