Omgz, a hurricane on da eastcoast, get in da choppa.
I didn't even feel that shit either. Had my surround sound going though....
actually seems plausible to me. water is a liquid, ocean has currents that change with the seasons and shit. the earth is just a ball of liquid rock, and we already know it has currents (tectonic plates etc). it stands to reason that they, too, could change with the seasons. Gravity of the sun exerting more force in new areas as the earth wobbles, idk. in any case, ichanges in the currents could easily affect the number of earthquakes, thus creating a season. I have no fucking idea if that's actually the case, though.
Regardless, I live in the upper midwest. The worst we have to worry about is snow and floods, but anyone near rivers has to worry about the latter. every half-century or so we might catch a few tornadoes, not not often enough to really be included in the season.
It's not.
Where in the upper midwest? We'd get tornado warnings maybe once or twice a year in Madison, one knocked down about 20% of the trees in the block my parents live on once.
I live in Texas. Gonna be watching the weather channel with popcorn on Monday/Tuesday.
In before "Obama's Katrina", seeing as how its going to play hell with the elections if it's terribad.
I live in Springfield, Ma and ever since last year with the tornado and that freak snow storm the news gets all crazy when ever there is a "major" storm system coming our way. I doubt we will get anything like last year. Probably some rain and soggy candy.
It'S gOnNa Be VeRy PoWeRfUl !!!!!!
FRANKENSTORMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
eh, on the one hand, i don't blame people for being anxious. i did some work out in monson after the tornado and it was unreal seeing the damage up close. but yeah, i don't imagine this is going to be anything to get terribly wound up over.
mostly i just feel bad for my friends. i know a lot of people that work for utility companies, they put in crazy hours in the wake of these storms and get death threats from the locals for not having service restored quickly enough, lol.
I guess I should pay attention to this. I don't want to be stuck at my friend's foodless apartment if this hits on Tuesday.
ya. Sucked for my parents, they didn't have power for two weeks. Everything in their fridge died.Plus, my mom's a teacher and that meant it took forever to get out of school for this summer. They now have a generator because of it. Which on one hand, makes me really happy they got one, on the other hand I'm fucking pissed that they didn't get one when I was like five.
You should hear the stupid shit cable companies get in the wake of the storms. After Katrina it was a week of golden silence, then when they got the phone lines back up in the area it was 2 months of
"Need to cancel, no more house"
"Don't have power, why's my internet out"
"Never lost power, don't care if your servers where washed out to sea want my internet back"
and so on. My favorite was the guy in Gulfport the day afterwards who called 20 times because his TV was out.
My parents and all my friends had no power for almost 2 weeks, my apartment is on UCONN campus power grid, I lost power for 3 whole hours...........................LOL. My uncle lost all of his tropical fish, over 50,000$ worth of fish because of it too. My apartment looked like a barracks, I had 20 friends staying on my floor/couches.
i live in wallingford, we have our own power company. we lost power for all of 5 seconds at my house. meanwhile meriden, which has CL&P, sections lost power for 2+ weeks
I only lost power for a week but my parents who live a couple blocks over didn't even lose power. But I was more pissed that my snow blower didn't work. (first world problems)
For christ sake, don't be a tard and fall asleep with a candle on like some retards did down here for Hurricane Issac, blow it out before falling asleep so you don't burn your house/apartment down like those idiots did. When Issac hit here, everyone with sprint phone service had terrible problems, couldn't call out, had problems sending texts, dunno how it is on the eastcoast but something to keep in mind I guess.
