This morning's 9:30 am EDT H*Wind analysis from NOAA's Hurricane Research Division put the destructive potential of Sandy's winds at a modest 2.9 on a scale of 0 to 6. However, the destructive potential of the storm surge was record high: 5.8 on a scale of 0 to 6. This is a higher destructive potential than any hurricane observed since 1969, including Category 5 storms like Katrina, Rita, Wilma, Camille, and Andrew.

Spectacular weather event, unbelievable readings and impact to the affected areas

Im usually in the path of such events. bittersweet, I'd love to have seen it first hand, but glad I am safely out of its destruction. Clean up will not be easy.

My buddy and I have been speculating on just how bad the looting is going to be once the water starts to recede. We are not very optimistic and have speculated that the damage done by people will be greater than the storm itself. I hope everyone has a gun handy some bullets and can hunker down because shit is going to be crazy.

Also good luck for people in NY for having a gun. Very very restrictive laws and NYC is even moreso. Best to stock up on metal baseball bats.

Niggas were looting like a motherfucker for 2 nights after Hurricane Rita in Houston. Number of looters also packed gats too for protection. I can only imagine what's going to go down in NYC tomorrow.

From my understanding big boss is watching twitter atm more than normal. Most of the people are asking for it by being so publicly vivid. Intent goes a long way.

Just got woken up by the power popping back on. 3 am is way better than the 8pm on November 5 estimation that PSE&G gave me.

Sounds like the wind has mostly died down here. Sporadic rain happening now.
Not looking forward to accompanying my parents to assess the damage to their house in Seaside in the next two or so days. My mom is already flipping out, and she has no idea if any water got inside yet (house in about 5 feet off the ground). Other houses on their street down there took on a couple feet of water, according to the neighbor who called her.
