I hope everyone in the area is safe. I went outside last night to see what 50-70 mph winds were like.. haha. Few trees down and random minor property damage for me. Other than that no flooding or blackouts where I am in Queens.

Fortunately, my family members live northwest of New York City; they're in an area covered by a state of emergency declaration, but flooding isn't one of their problems. While they'll suffer some damage, I'm certain they're glad for once that they've been lifelong commuters to NYC, rather than residents.
For those who aren't so fortunate, as a long-time East Coast resident, I empathize.
Woke up in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn, no flooding, still have power(it apparently flickered last night a few times) and internet, and nothing came through the window or hit the building after that first time. Dying after finally getting a new job would have sucked.
All major Pittsburgh school districts have cancelled school today which is virtually unheard of without 8 - 10 inches of snow on the roads. They are expecting us to start getting knocked around a bit in the afternoon through the evening. I'm assuming they just didn't want to take the chance.
35 foot waves on our lakefront in Milwaukee, Wisconsin today. Voluntary evacuations begin in Kenosha County this morning. Sandy's a large bitch.
I got off from class for Monday and Tuesday. We didn't get hit as bad as everyone thought we would here in Philly.
OH THE HUMANITY
I think we're surprised up here in Cleveland too, but honestly we're getting hit pretty hard due the lake effect impact on the storm. More than 140k without power in Cleveland area alone. My whole street was out, I ended up going to my girlfriend's last night since her complex was fine.
The wind though, shit was rocking my car back and forth at stop lights. Honestly thought I was in danger of flipping at some points. It's not nearly as bad on the east coast but it's its own kind of nasty here. Hope everyone's staying safe.
passed out around midnight, looked back at my twitter/facebook, at around 4am fdny had 2 different 6-alarm fires going on, plus those crane incidents were still ongoing, plus everything else

Looks fun.
Now it's raining hard
theres a 700ton, 200ft tanker ship that got ripped from its mooring and washed ashore on staten island
When I saw this pic, I thought of a random news reporter saying there is a hurricane, and the seal says,

^ fucking lmao. Stupid seal must be freaking out.
Pictures of this tanker? Only been to staten island once when I lived in ny (I left ny when I was 12), is it as dense as the city? I can't imagine a tanker just chillin on shore with out millions of dollars of damage dealt in doing so.
Our power in Columbus only went out for a few hours thankfully (and only a small area, apparently). Surprised the windstorm didn't knock it out again, because I see quite a few trees down here just from my window. Last time we had freak winds it blew down half the trees in the neighborhood so I wonder how the rest of the area has fared this time.
finally found a pic

Each time i hear Sandy, i'm scared that Mindy and Cindy will come and do a Delta Attack
