Don't know how I feel about that to be honest.

Caring out election during a disaster like a movie cliche
I'm pissed atm. So, as I said earlier, my parents got a generator last year because of the fiasco that left them w/o power for two weeks in that storm. They spent thousands of dollars on it. Called them this morning to see how they were doing, the generator isn't working....my mom wants to go to a hotel 'cause she's bored out of her mind, but my dad won't budge. He's kinda in shock, he is a bit senile now and can't handle change or unexpected circumstances very well.
I wish I could call whoever hooked it up and yell the fuck at them.
Well I'm finally getting home now, laying in bed after my 24 hour shift. It started with trees in houses, collapses, then structure fires and more structure fires. I was all set to go home at 2am when I heard we were finally getting the extra resources needed to start really pushing water rescues in force, you know, the people that stayed when they should have left. As if the water rising above their knees wasn't enough. So I stupidly went out and did water rescues in waist to chest high deep water in a gumby suit for 6 fucking hours.
I'm so done. Also, our main station downtown flooded and it's pretty much done. Good thing I never really go there but still, kinda lame.
Best I can do is give you a digital pat on the back.
You're a better man than I for doing that shit.
Looks like DC got lucky. From what I can tell the daracho over the summer was worse
daracho or whatever was some scary shit man, never seen anything like that
My school is closed again tomorrow.
Really hope all my fellow New Yawkers are ok.
So its damage assessment time, or are y'all new yorkers still bunkered down? This thread is my only source for info on the hurricane...lol.
Subway looks KO'd for at least 4-5 days which means Manhattan will be especially empty. People are digging out but it'll be at least next week before things get back to normal.
Ya done good bro. Ya done good. All jokes aside, thanks a lot to everyone here dealing with this shit and sending updates.
Hope everyone is safe and sound. ;x
As for an update: I'm working from home until I'm able to take the subway to work... Which is looking like it might not be anytime this week.
I thought there was supposed to be mass looting? Or were the cops super efficient about it and already somehow placed deterrents everywhere?
(That or looters aren't very willing/good at traversing water lol)
i imagine most of the looting is still to come
Ah ok, I was under the assumption that things have stablised and people are crawling out. I'm at work so I got no images turned on due to being on the client floor. It might still be quite bad. I know from lunchtime TV that there's water everywhere, but I guess I was being optimistic when I read the above.
lol @ this video but also omg @ the DESTRUCTION AND DEVASTATION

lol at the commentary but holy shit. O_O
Still winds and random strong rain showers. As for bottled water I have 5 gallons and 5 packs of 24 packs. Supermarket is still up and running.
Use to work there so I called them and asked them to hold a few more for me. Its not safe at all tho all stop lights are out.
Been without power for about 14 hours now. I charged everything beforehand so I'm sort of okay. Food in the fridge is starting to warm a bit. Got a deep freezer though so that shit should be okay a while. Work was cancelled sgain and i cant even game. First world problems. Con ed doesn't have an eta for us either. So we're in the dark. Literally and figuratively. Catching up on a couple books while i have light and save the portables til later.
