hi ryko, i did not know you in final fantasy eleven and i did not really consort with you on final fantasy eleven topics on these here interbutts. i do not think you are an elitist. i think you are someone that enjoys success and is not afraid to work hard to achieve it. you seem very grounded in other aspects such as being black and also being broke. you did once describe yourself as an MMO legend which i thought was cute and i like to bring it up every once in a while. I think that maybe your addictive personality might make people think you are elitist, i mean who the fuck else plays that much borderlands 2 and then goes around tearing one of the characters to shit. I dont think that is your elitism, i just think it is the natural depth you reach with most things you are interested in.

I think more to the point, the word "elitist" is often used with a negative connotation. This was the case long before collecting shinies on the internet was ever a thing. What people take offense to, and therefor liberally use the term because of, is that players who do want to test their limits only test their limits with others who are elite. It is a matter of respecting your time and the time of others. It is a matter of wanting to do a certain activity as quickly and efficiently as possible because time is valuable, even when that time is being spent in an environment that can best be described as "wasted".

You can release step by step guides and be as helpful as you want, but you'll never overcome the stigma that because you "have" you are elitist and the have-nots are somehow more legitimate gamers or just don't have enough time to dedicate to an event as you. (This is by far my favorite dismissal because the people I play with now are only on for 3 hours a day as a group)
