The difference in fight styles between trilogies is simply Lucas's frame of mind when he made the film. Iirc he told the actros in Ep4-6 to treat the lightsabers as if they weighed a lot, thus needing the use of two hands. In the 20 or so years between trilogies he made a shit ton of cash and the world of movies changed, so he could afford to hire really awesome stunt coordinators as well as tap into new routines that were more commonplace for moves of that time. Any sort of "cannon explanation" is nice and all, but it's just fluff to help fans who" just have to have things make sense in my scifi!"

Some people are getting pissy about this, saying it'll make it terrible like Crystal Skull. Except Crystal Skull was terrible because of its plot, not because of Ford (who was the only thing that made it at all watchable).

    KOTOR rumored
Another crazy Star Wars rumor has found its way online, and I'm sure there's going to be a ton more rumors throughout the years. The thing you have to understand is as of right now, everything Star Wars is up for grabs, Lucasfilm and Disney are throwing around all kinds of ideas. If the fans have thought of it, I'm sure Lucasfilm has as well. They are going to want to make a ton of awesome Star Wars movies, and there's enough room to tell them all as long as people are going to see them, and the movies are making money. Remember, the studio wants to released 2 to 3 Star Wars films a year, and that could happen for as long as they want to keep making them. 20 years from now we could still be seeing Star Wars movies being made.

As for the latest rumor, AICN has heard that Drew Karpyshyn, the writer of video games such as Star Wars: The Old Republic, Mass Effect, and Mass Effect 2 is currently writting a movie script for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The writer recently left Bioware to pursue a career in screenwriting, and this rumor started with the people that work at Bioware. There's no confirmation of this, but like I said earlier, there's a strong possibility that Lucasfilm has considered this or is considering it just like every other Star Wars story they can tell.

One a year I would be fine I guess but 2-3 per year is probably a bit much.

Sounds like they may just be trying to turn the Star Wars Universe franchise into the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise.

They've had SW merch at Epcot for ages. Lucas had worked with them for years before he sold out the company. Star Tours came along waaaay back in 1987...

Huh, never noticed that o_O. I haven't been to Disney World in ages so maybe I didn't notice it, but I saw quite a few R2D2 Mickey hats and a lot of merchandise in the stores related to Micky characters with star wars themes.

Yeah, Lucas has always enjoyed entertaining children (Hence Jar Jar) and Disney fit in well with that.

Drunk Carrie Fisher Attempts to Nix her Chance at Playing Leia in new SW
Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher hospitalized herself citing bi-polar disorder after an odd performance on a cruise ship this past week.

    Summary of video since removed from youtube;
It was Fisher drunk using a towel to clean up dog pee, breaking into spontaneous song during a scene in her stage show and slurring her speech.
Through her own admission Fisher has battled drug abuse with prescription pills and cocaine through parts of her life and seems to be on the road to recovery, but this somewhat drunken stage show has me wondering if she can stay clean through the new trilogy if asked to take part. Mind you I know bi-polar disorder is a hard illness to struggle with and we've seen actors and actresses in far worse conditions give astounding performances, but is it worth the risk? With Hamill and Ford already willing to jump in I have to say it will be interesting to see if Disney approaches Fisher with an offer with these recent events.

Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men) Next up for Directing
We've got some pretty cool new Star Wars news for you today! The information comes from MarketSaw who has brought us the first big details of what we'll be seeing from Lucasfilm in the near future. It's also the same source that said J.J. Abrams was up for the directing gig, so they've proved that their information can be accurate.

Their source is back with some more Star Wars movie updates that I'm sure you'll be excited to hear. The update includes some information that Children of Men director Alfonso Cuarón could end up directing directing Star Wars: Episode VIII or Episode IX. The studio is definitely considering him for the job right now though. This a a pretty clear indicator that Abrams will most likely not be directing anymore segments in the new trilogy. The report also says that Simon Pegg will be involved with the films in some capacity, but it's not revealed how he'll be involved.

It would be great to see Cuarón taking on the Star Wars universe! I think he's a great director that would do a fantastic job! I'm looking forward to seeing his new sci-fi film Gravity, that might be one of the main reasons that Lucasfilm is looking at him for the job. The source goes on to talk about what we can expect to see in the development of the new trilogy, and what actors will be involved. He also reveals that the tone of the new trilogy will be more like the original trilogy, which is exactly I was hoping for! He also talks about what the studio is focusing on. Here's what he had to say!

    Spoiler: show
As far as I know Episode 7 was then, and is now, focusing on the Skywalker's offspring. As I told you before, I believe duel personalities develop, akin to Anakin and Obi Wan, and Luke and Vader in the first trilogies, which as far as I am aware, is the driving force behind the new trilogy. Things may change however, but I doubt it, this has been long in the making.

The focus is on the original trilogy in regards of reverence and tone. Remember I told you before that the tone was important, well I believe they are really taking that seriously. From everything I know, they're focusing on that directly. Remember everything has the ability to change drastically, as Star Wars right now apart from the twin trilogies is a huge blank canvas. However, the trilogies ongoing narrative will continue to focus on that particular branch, whereas the stand alone movies, will fill and expand the voids in between in multiple timelines, and have potential to then be franchised themselves in regards to the worlds they open up.

Yoda, Palpatine, Jabba, Boba, Plagueis etc.

I believe they are very clued into what fans would and wouldn't like, and considering Mr Ford himself may not be done with his character yet, I wouldn't start picketing Lucasfilm about young Han Solo movies being made just yet. Which I was led to believe couldn't be further from how they want to move forward creatively anyway.

Harrison Ford has been approached, he has not turned it down, and is from everything I hear, very interested in returning to the role of Han Solo again, but is not signed as was reported recently. Negotiating may be a better choice of words right now. Hope it shakes out.

Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher were also approached a long time ago, as was ford, and a few other key players. I would all but guarantee, they will be in Episode 7, and I would be confident that Ford will return too. If the universe aligns correctly.

J.J. Abrams name was brought up to me numerous times, but only in reference to re-brand and ground up respect for world building that the franchise was looking to take back then. Very sneaky. Interesting to see he was offered the most coveted and feared gig in cinema history. Ultimately he is the perfect choice to direct episode 7, and set up the franchise to steward through the first trilogy. The names I mentioned to you before, remember them. Alfonso Cuaron especially. Trust me.

J.J. Abrams mystery cube or whatever he is calling it today, is in full effect, Star Wars news is going to be very thin on the ground for the foreseeable future, but expect Simon Pegg to be involved in some capacity. Can't say why, but lets just say I have a strong feeling about that.

Star Wars fans, Kathleen and J.J have your interests at heart.
