As I posted in the Gaming thread,

Production has begun on Star Wars Rebels, an exciting, all-new animated television series based on one of the greatest entertainment franchises of all time. Scheduled to premiere in fall 2014 as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel, it will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.
Leading the development of the series is a creative team of exceptional talent. Screenwriter/producer Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class, Sherlock Holmes, Mr. & Mrs. Smith) is an executive producer on Star Wars Rebels and will write the premiere episode. He is joined by Dave Filoni as executive producer, who served as supervising director of the Emmy nominated Star Wars: The Clone Wars since 2008. Executive producer Greg Weisman brings with him a wealth of animation experience with credits such as Young Justice, The Spectacular Spider-Man and Gargoyles.
Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide, said, "The entire team at Lucasfilm has provided extraordinary creativity and innovation for over three decades, and we're thrilled to be bringing the expansive and imaginative world of Star Wars to Disney XD's viewers."
"I couldn't be more excited to explore new corners of the Star Wars universe," said Kathleen Kennedy, president, Lucasfilm. "I think Star Wars Rebels will capture the look, feel and fun that both kids and their parents love about Star Wars."
The action-filled series is set between the events of Episode III and IV -- an era spanning almost two decades never-before explored on-screen. Star Wars Rebels takes place in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape. Details about the show are a closely guarded secret at this point.
Star Wars Rebels will be produced by Lucasfilm Animation, featuring many of the key talents that made Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Fans attending Star Wars Celebration Europe will be the first to get an exclusive look at the new series. Casting will be announced at a later date. More information about this developing project will be found on StarWars.com and on Facebook at facebook.com/starwarsrebels.
.Not even Chewbacca and his light saber get a free pass with airport security before being cleared to travel.
Transportation Security Administration agents in Denver briefly stopped "Star Wars" franchise actor Peter Mayhew recently as he was boarding a flight with a cane shaped like one of science-fiction's most iconic weapons.
Airport officials say they wanted to inspect the huge walking stick before allowing Mayhew, who is more than 7 feet tall, on the plane.
Mayhew tweeted "Giant man need giant cane" from his verified Twitter account when the incident happened June 3. He also posted photos showing a TSA agent holding the replica laser sword, which comes up to his chest.
Many subsequent media reports made it seem as though security officials buckled to pressure from Chewie's fans in allowing the actor to board the flight to Dallas with the cane, but officials say that characterization is inaccurate.
"Because of the unusual weight of the passenger's cane, a security officer alerted a supervisor. Less than five minutes later the passenger and cane were cleared to travel. Social media played no role in the determination," the TSA said in a brief statement released to The Associated Press on Saturday.
There was no word on whether agents were initially suspicious that Chewie had a weapon more commonly associated with other "Star Wars" characters, including Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and Yoda.
Attempts to contact Mayhew, 69, for comment — or roar — were not immediately successful.
so is this officially dead?

Probably going to be integrated into Rebellion or at least some parts of it.
So some rumors popped up today that despite earlier claims that the books wouldn't play a factor in the movies that the next trilogy might actually be based on the Legacy of the Jedi series where Jacen Solo turns to the dark side to become Darth Caedus in the first book and the next seven or so are his twin sister Jaina debating whether or not she wants to fight her now evil brother.

Wins Emmy, Cancels show.
Pardon my ignorance, but did he have much of a role to play in the creation of that series?
He stamps himself as Exec-Producer on everything. Despite that, he co-wrote 111 Episodes, according to IMDB.
Because I'm not gonna be arsed to go back and watch the last few seasons did they ever figure out a way to write Ashoka out of the universe without emphatically killing her to upset THE CHILDREN?
I think she quit after being falsely accused of some crime. Anakin went around and started cracking skulls to get her out, but she was like, nah, im out. I heard that she dies in the books or something, so technically she wouldnt have had to die in the show anyway.
She went into self-exile.
Teenagershttp://geektyrant.com/news/2013/6/20...teenagers.htmlStar Wars Rebels is an upcoming CGI animated series set to air next fall. Chronologically, it falls in between Star Wars: Episode III and Episode IV and shows the formation of the Rebel Alliance as the Galactic Empire is growing and strengthening its hold. According to a source, the title refers not only to the Rebel Alliance but also to a group of rebellious teenagers, the purported main characters of the upcoming show.
Really, this isn’t that surprising. We’ve seen both Luke and Anakin Skywalker in their young adult years, and we just saw the recent Star Wars: Episode VII casting call that is looking for late teens and early twenty-somethings.

teenaged crix madine? i cant think of many characters who had any appearance in either trilogy (or the EU) that would be teenagers during that period. they're all either middle aged or infants. except possibly Han. Maybe. But he's not really a rebel, even in the movies.
Not sure how they are gonna work around the canon of The Force Unleashed which shows you already how the Rebel Alliance came to be.
actually if you disregard some of the early childrens books and low-budget stuff, the timeline is really pretty orderly compared to most IP. lucasarts had a whole division devoted to continuity, and so any time someone wanted to make something they'd go through and consult all the existing stuff to make sure that it didn't clash. of course, they missed a fair amount of stuff, but they've done better with countless hours of material than some writers manage with a 2 hour movie script.
and there's still a chance they can squeeze this in, actually. the Rebel Alliance was a literal term. It was an alliance of individual rebel organizations, which coalesced into a single cohesive force gradually, as they fought on an increasingly large scale (which is demonstrated in the movies). so they might angle it from one of the early sub-Alliance organizations perspectives.
but tbh i only really half expected them to really honor the existing canon.
Give me footage of Starkiller, or get the fuck out
