I am not too familiar with this, but I heard there was a story that continued on with the events after the original trilogy that had Luke having a child, and Leia having a child with Han, and both children were taught by Luke who was trying to restore the Jedi Order or something with Leia and Hans son falling to the dark side?

Happened later on, but yeah, Luke has a son with his wife Mara Jade, but did not happen till later in the Expanded Universe. Leia and Hand have twins, Jacen and Jania... which Jacen turns into a Sith called Darth Caedus and kills Mara Jade. Who is then killed by Jania. Luke had re-surfaced the Jedi order, then actually expelled from the republic because the Grand Senator had beef with force users.

That being said I'm pretty sure all of the original actors hate Star Wars. As it has defined their lives for the most part and I'm sure they know more about how nuts Lucas is than the general public. But I'd really hope to see them in the new movies somehow. Ford at the very very least. I highly doubt Fischer would even consider the idea. And mark Hammel just... Didn't age well. Almost unrecognizable to his younger self.

The funny thing is, a new Star Wars could help their careers. I'd throw my whole paycheck at that cast in a new Star Wars.

As a regular reader of the EU. Luke has a son named Ben with Mara Jade who was once the Emperor's Hand(assassin/spy) and a trained force user who initially wants nothing more than to kill Luke. She settles on killing an evil clone during the Thrawn trilogy and years later the two get married and have Ben before Mara is murdered during the Legacy of the Force book series.

Leia and Han have three kids together. During the Thrawn trilogy while being hunted by Thrawn(he wants the Jedi babies for his psycho dark Jedi Master C'Baoth) Leia gives birth to twins Jacen and Jaina. Then during the Dark Empire trilogy(Luke goes bad trilogy) she gives birth to the third child Anakin. Naturally after numerous kidnap attempts and such the three become Jedi Padawans with Anakin becoming a very powerful Jedi and one of the heroes of the Yuzhaan Vong war before he's killed on a mission to Myrkr saving the rest of his strike team. This almost drives Jaina to the dark side but she is helped by several people including Kyp Durron another Jedi trainee turned Dark Jedi that nearly killed Luke turned Jedi Master and her future husband and ruler of the Imperial Remnant Jagged Fel also the nephew of Rogue Squadron pilot Wedge.

Jacen was a weird character throughout the whole Vong war questioning his place in the universe and basically very emo but he ends up being the person to end the war after Anakin dies(reportedly Lucas demanded they kill Anakin off to avoid confusion between Anakin Skywalker and Anakin Solo). After this though he starts off on a journey of self discovery and such visiting other force sensitive groups and learning from them. When he return he finds out that he has a daughter with his childhood friend and the Queen Mother of the Hapan Consortium Tenel Ka. Visions ensue and he sees his daughter in grave danger. So in an attempt to save her he basically goes full on Sith. He takes over the Galactic Alliance and wages a war against the Jedi and a separatist movement based on Corellia. And also inadvertently on the Mandalorians when he unknowingly kills the daughter of Boba Fett who then goes on to train Jaina in Mandalorian combat. Oh yeah and Mara Jade, Luke's wife, is the one to discover he went full on Sith and was trying to corrupt their son Ben to join him. She confronts Jacen who then kills her and places the blame on his master Lumiya. Luke tracks Lumiya down who happens to be a former girlfriend of his and chops her head off before he finds out the truth. In the end Jaina confronts her twin brother and using Boba Fett's training with her Jedi skills kills him so she is the only surviving child of Han and Leia.

So there plenty they could choose from when it comes to the books and movies but my first thought would definitely be the Thrawn trilogy.

With Disney at the helm I'm actually optimistic for this, there's SO much lore post episode 6 they could work with. Leia and Han's children being my vote at the top (I read the books a lot haha), but they'll probably introduce something completely new though.
There's just so much that can be done I'm actually kind of pumped lol.

Lucas better keep his greedy ass beak out of it for the most part though, fucker can eat a dick for all I care.
Also I doubt any of the old actors will enlist as already said , will suck if they have to bring in new actors for the original roles, but oh well.

I kinda wish they'd pick a fresh story so audiences go in on even footing and are wow'd / dissapointed by whatever the studio came up with. People are already throwing around ideas in the expanded universe books and that is great and all but ultimately leads to a place where people start bitching about minor details weren't addressed or that creative decisions wound up hurting the franchise much like every story that goes from novel to movie incarnation.

Part of what made the original Star Wars trilogy so great was the fact that people were getting something completely 'new' rather than something shackled to established canon.

Bad news is we're talking about movies 7-9 of a series that doesn't have a good history of reining it in and telling a coherent story.

All the people saying Disney is going to ruin Star Wars have gone full retard, George Lucas ruined it all by himself. With Disney's track record of Marvel movies I have hope that they will be able to take the charred and decaying corpse of the franchise and somehow revive it.

This is a good move for Disney/Lucas(films), but it will shatter so many dreams at the same time. People attribute Episode 4-6 with the original actors. No fucking way they can pull off... say, the Thrawn Trilogy with new actors. Just won't mesh well. And those niggas aged so hard. Mark Hamil doesn't hate Star Wars as much, but he's old looking as shit now lol.

It's a pipe dream but it would be awesome if they could get the Dark Horse Expanded Universe storylines.

If they somehow are able to get the Dark Forces storyline and go in that direction, huzzah. Going to have to wait and see.
