DW8:XL heading West in Spring 2014 for PS4, PS3, & Vita

Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends is coming to the west. Tecmo Koei have announced. The game will be available in spring 2014 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Vita.

PlayStation 3 will get Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends, which will include just that game. The PlayStation 4 and Vita release, however, is titled Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition, and includes both Dynasty Warriors 8 and the Xtreme Legends version of the game.

Tecmo Koei say the reason they’re doing a “Complete Edition” release on PS4 and Vita is because those platforms have never seen Dynasty Warriors 8 before, while PS3 has.

Both versions of the game will include English as well as Japanese voices.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita, and Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends for PlayStation 3 will launch simultaneously across North America on March 25 and Europe on April 4, Tecmo Koei announced.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition includes all the content from Dynasty Warriors 8 and Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends, and is compatible with save data from the PlayStation 3 version of Dynasty Warriors 8.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends is a standalone expansion to Dynasty Warriors 8, including new episodes that add to the stories of the three kingdoms, focusing on Lu Bu. It introduces five new characters for a total of 82 playable warriors. It also adds multiple hypothetical scenarios that alter the plot-lines of various episodes through the ‘Romance of the Three Kingdoms’ story, as well as an expanded Ambition Mode and the popular Challenge Mode. Free Mode has been enhanced, and now includes the ‘Ultimate’ difficulty level.

New characters

Chen Gong

An ambitious and humorous strategist for Lu Bu, he is willing to make any sacrifice to see himself rise to the top. He once served under Cao Cao, but switched sides when he realized his ambitions would not be satisfied.

Fa Zheng

A strategist without morals and a key figure in Liu Bei’s efforts to take over the land of Shu. He is a brilliant tactician who has pacified Yi Province with his strategies, and participated in the invasion of Hanzhong. He strongly believes in repaying his debts, whether it be for good or ill.

Lu Lingqi

A brave warrior princess, and daughter of Lu Bu, who possesses great fighting ability much like her father, she uses her courage to stand in the front lines of any battle.

Yu Jin

An invincible general promoted by Wei leader Cao Cao. He places a strong emphasis on military discipline, and his unyielding personality causes him to be feared by friend and foe alike.

Zhu Ran

A fledgling warrior who has since been promoted within the Wu ranks. Although young, he distinguished himself in the suppression of a group of mountain bandits and during the Battle of Ruxukou.

DW8XL announced for PC, Min Specs

Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends (Dynasty Warriors 8 included) is coming to PC in Japan on May 23 for 7,800 yen, Tecmo Koei announced.

The PC version will feature the same basic content as the console version, but with the ability to freely adjust the graphics quality (including super low). Additionally, Dynasty Warriors 8 and Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends‘ free downloadable content, such as additional scenarios and background music, will be included on-disc.

Here are some specs:

CPU: at least Core2Duo 2.4GHz (Core i7 860 recommended)
Memory: at least 512MB (1GB recommended)
Hard-Drive: at least 18GB of free space
Video Card: at least VRAM256MB (512MB recommended), at least DirectX 9.0c, as well as Pixel Shader 3.0 support and a 3D Accelerator Chip
Soundboard: One that supports at least DirectX 9.0c
Gamepad: Supported

Picked it up yesterday for PS4. I was going to transfer my save data from PS3 but I forgot that I replaced the old HD with an SSD so I have to start all over again.

Started Lu Bu campaign first and I hate using him lol. Having to get all those skills back is a pain too.

Worth it to pick up? Not sure if I should do Vita or PS3. . .

In my opinion the best one yet and I went through every single game (excluding XL and Empires of every iteration) in the franchise. If you like hack-n-slash games, I highly recommend it. Personally I like my games on a large screen, but I imagine the experience will still be a blast on a Vita.

Soundtrack is great.

Oh, I love the Musou games, so I know I'll like this one.

And yeah, I prefer the big screen experience for them too.

I never played the new one but I might have to check it out. I was always a Guan Yu guy. i didnt even know there was a new one. I have a bunch of the old ones on PS2.

I was always more of a fan of role playing version called Romance of the 3 kingdoms. one of my fav periods of history to study also. I wish they would make a new one of those.

on a side note has anyone actually read the Book that this is all based on? I recently got it, and it's gold. I never realized how much a of a scoundrel Cao Cao was LOL. I read this one part where he just murders this entire family who was helping him escape Dong Zhou's lands after a failed assassination on Dong Zhou and his excuse is he would rather fell someone else then be felled by them. the guy who is helping him says he is going to get wine and Cao Cao thinks he is going to turn them in so he kills the family and then they leave and see the guy with wine returning from town and he kills him too.... Cheng Gong is with him and is so horrified that he leaves his service. Chen Gong later elects to be killed rather then return to Cao Cao's service.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms VIII is one of my all-time favorite games. I am obsessed with the history/lore so I read all of the RotK books as well, great stuff.

Yeah RoTK 8 is my fav also. that's the best one. I love the events/music in 8 with the stage when ever someone comes to see you lol. it kinda just rolls onto the screen and starts playing weird music.
