It's what i miss most on the latest entries.. i had so much fun collecting the 4th weapons on DW3.. maybe i'm wrong since i didn't play them all after DW3 but i remember DW6?7?? being random weapons dropped from generals...

Also I forgot but you can play the story mode in online coop now yeah? it's not like WO3 where both people have to have completed the stage before to do it online? And do you have to keep inviting the person after each completed stage?

Just got this and started story mode with Shu. Only second stage in and got to use Zhao Yun. Wow... Zhao Yun is fucking awesome.

Edit: Yooooooooooo! Liu Bei with a lightning sword (Flashpoint/Blinkblade) is fucking badass. Running into a narrow alleyway with shit load of enemies and go C4 with rage is fucking satisfying.

Horses are much improved. The range to ride was increased and immediately moving even as you're getting on is a very nice touch.

Yeah, I love the Lightning Sword, C4 is so damn good on it, C6 looks fucking nice too. I'm loving the Rage thing in this, shit is sooooooooo damn good and fun getting a huge ass crowd then using musou on all of them, exp scrolls and shit everywhere.

Haven't tried the lightning sword yet (I think). I love the single hooked sword, though. Quick and deadly, lots of blue slashes everywhere.

Lightning Sword is so damn good, really gotta try it, definitely one of the top weapons by far, C3 and C4 are amazing.

Also, for anyone playing on 360, is there lag sometimes with a big swarm of enemies? I'm on PS3 and the lag/slow down can be annoying at times, I don't remember DW7 having any at all, even in big crowds, but it's been awhile.

Lightning sword benefits from swinging speed and good range. Definitely top tier weapon. C4 is great for crowd control and escaping.

I'm playing on PS3. I get a lot of lag when there's heavy fire plus enemies, especially during the burning of Luo Yang. Otherwise it's not so bad. Even when on Guan Xing using rage plus musou, flying all over the place, the drop in frame rate wasn't too bad.

Speaking of which, Guan Xing and his wing blade and Ex move. It's fucking all over the place. Hahaha.

Edit: I noticed when using a spear and the character is swinging or slamming it, you can see the bend on the pole. Thought that was cool.

Also read that if you hold the the horse button, you'll automatically mount when the horse gets to you. Gotta try that when I get home.

Yup, when you hold it down you'll automatically mount it. Victory Cry ability seems better than I thought, mines not even maxed and items drop constantly, allowing me to keep up x2 attack/defense often, as well as being able to spam Musous often, wonder how much of a difference it'll make between 15 and 20, since I believe 20 is the max skills can go.

Just got done playing both Guan Xing and Yingpin, and holy shit, Yingping is much better than I thought, her EX is amazing granting attack/speed boost, and adding whirlwind like effect at the end of her charges, her musous are okish (haven't seen the 3rd one), and her rage true musou is pretty good as well. Guan Xing true rage musou holy shiiiiiiiiiiit, remember Kia posting a video of it awhile back and it's much more awesome performing that shit and seeing it yourself, shit absolutely rapes everything, I even ended up with like a 7k+ chain at end of one of mine lol...

So how is this compared to WO3? I skipped out on DW7 so I don't really know what's changed between them.

The new mount system alone puts it leagues above the previous DW and WO3.

Much better than DW7, 7 had a really good story mode, and its better in 8, especially now that you can choose which character to play as instead of just being thrown in a battle with a forced character. Free mode is also back now and there's a new mode called ambition mode. There's a lot more weapons you can choose from now and each officer has a certain compatibility with each one as well. Oh yeah, you can also get animals that can assist you in battle as well it seems. A few new things added in this as well, though since you never played DW7, DW7 had the ability to let you switch between the two weapons you had equipped and depending on what you had equipped, when you switched you'd sometimes gain certain effects or attacks between the switches, the same is in DW8, but characters are less of a clone this time around.

There's an elemental affinity thing too, where certain officers are weak/strong against one of the 3 affinities, which are Man, Earth, and Heaven, if officer is weak to one of the elements of a weapon you have equipped, you get the option to do storm rush on them when you deplete the bar, which does good amount of damage and has a bit of AoE to it. If an officer is strong against a element you're using on them, then you do less damage and they can't be flinched, however, if you switch your weapons during one of their charge attacks you'll do a switch counter, which switches your weapon immediately and counters them with the newly equipped one for some damage to the officer. If they're neutral, then you just do normal damage.

The other newly added thing is the Rage system, I don't know if chain determines how much it builds or killing, or both, but once it fills, you can enter a state of rage, which gives increased speed and power and an entirely new musou that can only be done in rage, it can become an true rage musou if your chain becomes rampage before your musou meter runs out, true rage musou absolutely rapes everything in its path, shit is soooooooooo good.

Another simple analogy for the weapon affinity of heaven earth man is rock paper scissors. Because you can equip two weapons and freely switch between the two with the press of a button (R1/RB), it's a good idea to have two of the three affinities so you won't find yourself disadvantageous in a 1-on-1 with an officer.

Koei really turned it up a notch in the rampage factor. It's glorious. Between Storm Rush and Rage Musou, the amount of bodies flying in the air is a sight to behold. When you unlock Weng Yan in Jin's story mode, check out his javelin weapon set. It's like shooting cannons into the sky. Personally favorite so far is the lighting sword weapon set (Sima Shi of Jin) for the C4. You can literally advance an entire stage spamming C4 while sending bodies all over the place.

I was up til 8:30 am this morning since like 9pm yesterday playing this game. Just had to complete that Jin storyline. Trying to unlock all the bonus stages and trying to figure out keeping guo huai alive took a lot of the time.

Wang Yuanji is my favorite char from 7 and she rapes faces in 8 as well. Battle of cheng du was like spamming rage mode the entire time. Killed like 5000 people by the time I finished.

I also wasted a good amount of the weekend on the game too. Spent a lot of time in Ambition mode though. Just unlocked all the mounts (freaking 100 consecutive battles) and all characters to use for the mode. Made a pair of tier 4 lightning swords with some bitching elements (cyclone, slash, induction) and went nuts with Sima Shi (Jin) on hard/chaos mode.
