Won't Boot/Read from my optical drive.

I'm trying to boot a fresh Windows 8 from my internal optical drive and it won't read the disc for whatever reason. I get the:

"Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key."

I then open the drive, put in the disc, it makes some noise, and it gives me the error message again. Any advice on what to do?

I went to the BIOS and set my priority boot device as the Optical Drive also.

if you have another computer you can check the disk with, thats your best shot, otherwise there is a chance you got bad media, unlikely, but still possible

also when booting most computers you can press f12 for a menu that will ask you what device you want to boot from, that should be able to force it to boot from the disk

I tried forcefully booting it from the BIOS as I got the UEFI bios.

It defaults to that setting already. I got a new MB with a new SSD and trying to install a new OS.

I'm assuming you can see the SSD in the bios?

I would plug the SSD into another computer as a slave and see if you can format it to NTFS from there.

It was the optical drive. I got a friend to lend me his really quick and it booted up just fine.
