I love the show and I'm sure I'm not their target market (32) but the storylines are often quite awesome. About the original mentioned above

To each his own, But I gotta say that when my sister watches this when I hang out at her house, I feel like I'm watching Twilight fanfic written by an eighth grader. There is always some shit that it impossible, then suddenly there is some special way to do it. Might be the least interesting fantasy/sci-fi vein show I've ever watched.

The show makes plenty of these mistakes and I dunno, perhaps you just learn to tune things like this after a while if other parts of a show (not just this show) are still good. I guess its what you have to do in a TV market known for killing off good shows in the Fantasy and Sci-Fi genres and replacing them with more shit for the dumb masses. Sometimes you just want to have a fantasy show and realize that if you took out the plots written by those Twilight loving teens then perhaps the show might not make it. Not that it excuses any of it ... but it does explain why you learn to tune out the garbage parts. In the end, the show doesn't deserve any awards or anything, but overall it is entertaining.

Which brings me to another point ... in terms of characters, I tend to like characters who are either less prone to being part of the bad arcs or who are simply more relatable. Characters like Caroline (post Vampire only of course), Anna, and Lexi are actually some of the better characters written for the show in my opinion. Thats not to say that they're perfect ... but I find them more normal. Elena is overly goodie goodie (especially in her current arc), Stefan has some real Edward Cullen moments (and I mean that in the worst way ... as if there was any other way I could mean it), and Damon, while a really good character in some episodes (like the one where he went to Georgia with Elena), just can't seem to catch a break from the writers who have him swing between dark and light a little TOO much. Alaric wasn't bad either and complemented Damon well ... but the whole "Crazy Go Nuts" arc from his ring + vampire killer arc kinda ruined him for me.

yeah watching this and love the show. tough they went sometimes overboard a bit. Just getting tired of this constant Klaus thing, everytime you think he is FINALLY off, he comes back. Its like I am watching a mario game where Bowser returns every time...
And now they just put one of my favourite characters to sleep ._. Rebecca, but to be honest she didnt fit in atm after the things that happened.

I want Elijah and Katarina Petrova back :/

Some chars there could really use some char-development.
Elenas brother: feels like wasted space (god I hate when he is too much involved in an episode and I hate the actor dont know why)
Bonny: powerfull witch yadda yadda yadda, but no development, I mean seriously after all this shit she had to go through because of damon, stefan and elena, you would expect her to go apeshit for once and send them all to hell and tell them who the boss is.
Matt: I honestly dont know why this one didnt die yet.

The show misses a major "bitch" atm with Rebecca and Katarina Petrova gone.

Completely agree with you on Matt, Bonny, and Elenas brother. I like some more Caroline instead of those 3 if I had to choose.

so was expecting that jeremy would be the new hunter at some point, which means I have to endure more of him -_-. Maybe this time he becomes actually usefull and intersting!

It's pretty good. It's basically a mix of TruBlood and Twilight in story and characters. It gets brought down a little bit by mindless highschool stories about 1/5 of the time and good main characters get killed off every season while the mundane ones stick around for no real reason.

I like that the show actually kills off people. Then again, I don't remember them killing off too many characters that I liked aside from the cute vampire who's on Walking Dead now.

The show is surprisingly entertaining considering I originally watched it just to look at Nina Dobrev.
