Known/popular tv actors, spoiling episodes by guest appearing as the killer/main antagonist

Anyone notice this new trend? Many off season popular/known tv actors making guest appearances in on season shows as the main antagonist.

It kinda spoils the show totally as 5 minutes in you already know who dun it! lol

Sorry if maybe this should be spam but its funny, and happening alot recently.

Especially in the typical who dun it type shows.

Anyone else noticed it? and have examples.

Was watching Elementary and saw in the first 5 minutes a main actor for Suits. Yup totally spoiled it as I already knew oh its him hes the killer =/

Has been happening on many other shows too.

I haven't seen Elementary yet and you just ruined it. If you are a decent human you will feel bad. It's the only way I won't want to strangle you.

Castle has made a living out of it. "Oh shit, I know that dude! ... Shit, that means he's the killer."

Pretty much every CSI show is like this as well. "Oh heeey thats the guy that had that really small role in that other...fuck damnit, he is going to end up being the killer by the end of the show."

Pretty much how it goes. I can't watch CSI because its ALWAYS an actor that plays small roles in other films/tv shows.

Can see alot of that one CW. Like the villain in episode 3 of the Arrow is pretty much a regular on this season of Supernatural.

Colbert appeared in one of those once. I think he was a forger, perfectly forging rare signatures, and had a mother that constantly sold valuable things of hers and his for some kind of church charity (he was opposed to it). Was pretty entertaining to say the least.

Think there was another episode that had Robin Williams; insane. Makes a mockery of the investigators while in the court room defending himself by himself (he completely rips the surveillance camera zoom-in/enhance picture shit to shreds lol). Does some psychological stuff and just vanishes at the end of the episode.

At least they're not all bad, but the good ones are a bit rare...

That's what made the first 3XK episode so good. Those bastards.

I remember that one. That was really good. He didn't just forge signatures, he forged entire letters.

It was law and order criminal intent. I don't think colbert was very well known at the time.

CSI has been doing that (famous guest = killer) for years.
I'd compare the process to the older tv show "Columbo", where the murder is known early in the episode, the rest of the episode is showing how Columbo solved the case.
So the viewer knows the famous guest star is known to be antagonist, show will explain how the guest is related to the situation that happened.

Its not always a bad thing though.
    Spoiler: show

I do remember years ago Steve from Blue's Clues showing up on Law and Order. But I totally agree with Mots. CSI has been really bad about it for a year or 2 now.

Ah, you're right. Get those mixed up, even when I really shouldn't since CSI (and others) has hilariously terrible use of tech bits while LO actually tries, sometimes. But that's another thread.

Last nights mentalist had Amber from House... did it spoil it, yes, yes it did. But the good thing was that they didn't introduce her early.

All I know is that every time I see Sean Bean, whether in a movie or a TV show, he will eventually die.

Not always! I can name at least one series where he doesn't die. That's because he's THE main character, though.

The only series/show I've ever seen in which Sean Bean doesn't die:
    Spoiler: show
Sharpe. Good series. I haven't finished it (so much on my backlog /firstworldproblems), but thus far it's stuck pretty close to the books. He's the main POV character in the books and the show, and both are named after him. He doesn't die, and the author has said he might revisit Sharpe later. Although, that might be an old remark. He's revisited Sharpe a few times.
