here you go.
the old story is pretty messy.. things straighten up a lot more after they introduced the GC and the 7th umbral era storyline.
come to think of it, its quite hard to imagine how the storyline survived with no clear representation of the 3 nations authorities before the GC thing.
that said, i believe they're probably abandoning the old storyline because they imported all the important characters from the old story into 7th umbral era save for Minfilia, who we happen to know will also make an appearance in 2.0 already.
Thanks for that. Forgot how terrible the original story was with the echo and the path crap... Made worse by the fact that the quests were so far apart level wise (this was if you did it pre PLing). You'd get to the next quest and totally forget wtf was going on. Never did get a grasp of it.
Thanks for the link.
Yeah, thankfully they said that story quest will be less separated by levels in ARR.
That's why we have Limit Breaks. Either way Bahamut was very likely powered up somehow, other Primals can probably cause just as much damage and devastation if supported as much as he was. It's likely that the Beastmen tribes don't have the knowledge or technology to give all that power to their respective gods.
Or maybe it's the result of what the Empire was trying to avoid. Bahamut was sealed away ages ago by an ancient race, likely because he managed to gain physical form and mantain it. Kinda funny that a Legatus from the same Empire is responsible of all this.
Either way seems like the Empire is taking a huge backseat in ARR's story, it's all about the primals and for good reason I'd say. If one of them is able to cause all this imagine if the other 6 manage to gain physical bodies... and there's also Odin who is probably related to the Crystal Tower if the lore is supposed to hint at him.
Love that End of Era trailer. So the cycle of death and rebirth was put on hold by the sealing of Bahamut. This explains the prosperity that came to be in the 6th Umbral Era. It may be that Bahamut is just a force of nature who's sole purpose is the destruction of Eorzea in order to end each Umbral era. My guess is that The Twelve found a way to seal and exile him deep into space, but because of that they were either destroyed themselves or weakened to a state where they could no longer be active during the 6th Umbral era. Epic trailer, epic trailer all over my body.
6th Astral Era*
They go Umbral > Astral > Umbral and so on.
Maybe the 12 were merely mortals with more than average power that devised a method to harness the aether of the land to bind Bahamut and send him away. In the process they died because of power overload, but because of their actions and the time that passed since the days of their myth they became elevated to the level of deities.
Maybe the Twelve is just a type of a "system" governing Eorzea and its Aether. Especially seeing as how the barrier looked in the trailer.
^ Yeah I think Stan said something along the same lines right after the video was posted. To which I think brings about a much more interesting tale as the 12 being a system so to speak rather than mortals.
;d although purely opinion base - and they still very well could be people. But I think the system route has a lot more room for a compelling story instead of getting mixed up with all the 12 different people/personality/story to more or less represent them as a whole ~
I've presumed the 12 were much like the XI primals the stories of great men women and beasts becomes the demonic structure which they houses (or in the 12th's case there so powerful there physical bodies may have passed but there Aetheral couldn't leave or it would upset the planets balance)
Sighn of huge delay or still on schedule? We're starting to prepare for the Beta Test which we would like to implement at the end of January or early February.
Schedule has been shifted about 2mo from the old timeline. They will release a new timeline soon. (interpret soon however u like)
yikes, jan is a lot longer to wait for the beta than i was hoping for![]()
Very nice ending for 1.0.
Its been an interesting journey from beta to here so far. The things happening behind the scenes, the work they put for 1.0 to make it playable and even enjoyable.
Some years back I wouldnt expect from SE to see live shows where producer/director of a game and Wada fool around, even a written communication with fanbase used to be a tabu. For me these letters were always great fun and it shows respect for the fans of the game to treat them like this, especially from a company like SE. I hope they will continue this trend in the future.
Yoshida and his crew has done a good job, just wish they weren't 2.5 monthish behind schedule!
Love them!
Edit: I was half asleep, but were they playing Hildebrand theme when Wada appeared?
That means release around June I am thinking, but I think 24/7 beta should keep fans happy.
