That's not how most people will have read it (and I'm sure SE knows that):
Spoiler: show
October = Version 2.0 client distribution. November = free trial period (launched but 30 days free I assume). Saying that, the timeline is shit anyway - no PC beta phase etc.
I just think its odd for them to come out with a specific delay when it doesn't add up. If they're 2-2.5 months behind we should expect 2.0 to be distributed in December and released in Jan (alongside a PS3 beta). But then they're also saying PC beta won't even start till later and that they want time to make a ton of changes following beta's feedback.
I'd much prefer them to say "OK, fair play, it's gonna be Q2 at least". All they're going to end up with this way is a new round of QQing every time they announce a delay of another month or so, which will breed more bad feeling, which will hurt eventual sales.
Crappy way to manage a project but I imagine marketing threw a tantrum when they were told how late it would be so made them say 2 months to keep people hooked/interested. No point throwing all the marketing material out months before release if they can't maintain the hype...
Edit: I like that Yoshi-P wants to 'get it right' and 'not repeat v1.0's mistakes' but if I hear "please bear with us for just a little longer" again, I'll... well, nothing I guess. /sigh.
