How do we know? This could have been a major direction of the story all along (for the most part, just needed some tweaks), and it just happened to align with a game reboot as well (lol but srs). That song fits the scene really, really well.

There's about 60s of song missing from the trailer and Yoshi-P admitted to deciding on Bahamut when he came on board (I think?); I think they had big plans for it (esp the whole opening cs when you make your character) but I've never been sold on the idea they planned to crash Dalamud into Hydaelyn and unleash Bahamut to raze the land from Day 1.

I don't think Tanaka had any hand in any of the story once Nael van Darnus, Meteor, and Magitek devices showed up.

Tanaka's team was too busy trying to make us care about Ascians, Primals, non-existant Sahagin, the Echo, and Sylphs.

I am willing to bet that Midgardsormr originally was Bahamut, but because he was never actually named, Yoshi quickly made sure it was officially named something different so he could have his epic Bahamut reveal.

I am a fan of ingame housing and marriages. Even though I don't RP in MMOs I still like the little things that help with immersion in the world. Plus, I always enjoy having little side things to work on that don't require finding a group of people to do. Housing in EQ2 was pretty intense, and tons of fun to work on. Hubby, friend, and I rented a 3 bedroom house in that game, and each had our own room to mess with. ONly annoying thing was friend kept rearranging the living room after I already did! It was basically like having the Sims in an MMO, and I'm ok with that.

As to marriages, my hubby and I always wanted to get married in ffxi when they had some se rep officiate it. But we could never get in because they were always booked. While I imagine it was a headache, I definitely believe it had to have been extremely popular, so it's worth it to bring it over to 14 (especially since not many mainstream mmos do it, so gives them a little something different).

Also, guy on the last page is completely disgusting and a dbag. I'm all for some manthra on manthra action.

I completely agree and I think that the non combat things like that can be a big draw for the game. That's why alot of people love Sims. I loved my moghouse in XI and spent a lot of time and money decorating it. I'm glad Yoshi got bit of a backlash from the community back when he took over for trying to minimize the role of DOH and DOL. Personally, for me the moghouse, crafting, gathering, gardening, etc, etc are as important as combat.

I can't complain about the questions answered in the live letter because I didn't ask any. But surely SE could have picked a better selection than tits and marriage. Although it's better for them to mention their thoughts on marriage now rather than implementing it and creating a shitstorm then.

Well, it's unlikely that you're going to get combat/dungeon/whatever specifics, so what else would you have them ask? They answered housing questions, and that's all I really cared about.

Despite how retarded the average question is from the Official Forum, there were plenty of legitimately important questions sprinkled here and there between the stupid. The thing is, they will always pick and choose what they want to answer. I tried skimming over the whole thread and I only saw one question about titty jiggle before my head exploded. Can't really blame the players for bad questions since they chose them. (Not to mention the questions came from all regions/languages as well, so it's not just us either.)

I think everyone is overlooking the most important thing mentioned in the Developer letter. Coeurl Mounts! Screw your Goobue's (mostly because I missed Legacy by 2 weeks) I want a cheetah!

I want to see an in-game shot of the Legacy Chocobo. Hopefully it ends up looking better than a Chocobo that rolled around in some coal.

What exactly had to be done for the legacy chocobo? Better yet, what exactly is the legacy for this game? Is it similar to WoW, where certain items can carry over across the account? I played 14 from Closed Beta through retail, up to the point where they started charging, and then let my account go inactive. So would that qualify for the legacy or what's the deal with that?

So you never paid for any game time and still got Legacy status? I will have to check my account when I got home. I was in Beta, had the CE, and even played a bit after it was pay to play and last I checked I didn't have it.
