I can't complain about that, I'm actually looking forward to the end of Lightning's arc. I'm sure after ARR's initial development is complete they'll go back to doing all that stuff. There was a rumor not to long ago that they halted FFversusXIII's development so they could throw more people at ARR. It's pretty safe to say that since the last year and a half they probably had all hands on deck rebuilding XIV.

The other thing I want to mention is that XIII-2 was outsourced to Tri-Ace, I'm pretty sure that's going to be the same for FFXIII: LR, the main production teams are probably working on either FFversusXIII or next-gen shit.

Fucked up thing is all of that other shit being made AT THE SAME TIME is more likely than a 3rd Chrono game with the original dream team.

I just hate the fact Wada is holding the fans hostage by saying some shit like "Well, if you want a 7 remake, you need to buy the other FF games! then mentions how the current sale of the games don't come close to 7's." Like I said, i'm not a big fan of 7 but I rather see that than 13 sequels. Everyone I know that bought 13-2, disliked the game, most of them were diehard FF fans who started with the 1st game back on NES.

Give us a sequel we want, whether its Chrono 3 or a sequel to one of the more popular FF games.

Can't remake ff7 and mae fans hapy.

1) If they remake it exactly how it was with updated graphics, effects, it will get poor reviews since it won't have any new gameplay; the combat system and world map are outdated relics of a 32bit era for example.

2) If they remake it with new updated systems, new battle system, materia system revamp, limit break adjustments, remove mini games and other relics of 32 bit era i.e rendered maps, overworld, random battles, then people will complain that FF7 is ruined.

Personally if they do remake it, i'd prefer if the characters looked how they did in Kingdom Hearts/Dissidia...by this I mean I want them to look anime/unrealistic/cartoonish and not hyper realistic like in Advent Children

I agree it would be impossible to make everyone happy, but I also think it'd be pretty hard for them not to make a profit regardless of what route they chose. People would eat that shit up, reviews be damned. I know ARR kind of had to happen for pride/brand reasons but I can't help feeling FFVII 2.0 would have been more of a sure bet. They wouldn't even have to put the resources of a full FF title into it. I'd still buy a half assed attempt at updating the models and maybe still static but 3d maps.

I'd rather they don't think about prequels, sequels or remakes for any FF game, and just focus on making the main series good again. Have those teams working on XV and XVI, or a new IP.

Afaik it was just a rumor they debunked after some time. There was a lot of unused stuff in XIII true, but it wasn't ported to XIII-2. Of course it could've just been PR talk.

Seems like FFXIV is consuming a lot of the workforce right now, if recent rumours (sigh) are to be believed. I wouldn't be surprised considering how much they're going to do, but I seriously hope FFXV is still in the works. It could turn out to be Agni's philosophy, with a new gen coming out next year (apparently), SE might be doing the sensible thing and lining up a launch title for the PS4/720.

But that seems far too sensible and would likely generate a level of sales that might be deemed inappropriately high for SE's goals of running down to the point of being an exclusively mobile phone game developer by 2015. (Edit: Well speak of the devil: http://www.4gamer.net/games/194/G019419/20121120095/ - A new mobile phone card game about fembots? SE, you shouldnt have!)

Or shit, give me a real FFT Lionwar sequel, it had some of the best characters of any FF game. I thought Delita was one of the best written characters they have ever wrote in the history of the FF series. He was a character that kept you guessing until the very end of the game on what he would do. Tactics was the only FF game I've played where you never knew who to trust, the game told a fantastic story despite the bad translations in certain spots.

The death screams in that game were so epic, lol.

Someone at SE figured out where their bread is buttered. With XI being the most profitable FF, it makes sense to prioritize its replacement.

Right and beyond that, How many ports/remakes have they done on FF1-6? They are massive cash cows for Square Enix, but in order to keep rereleasing games in the future, they need new games that people actually think are great. I don't think there's going to be a big demand for an FFXIII remake/portable in 10 years.

They certainly haven't given FFVI enough attention. IV has seen so many rehashes and even a 3D reboot that was pretty cool from what I understood. I am pretty sick of FFIV's storyline and never thought it was as good as VI anyway. Heck, FFIX would be a better reboot by far than any of the modern games. I don't think anyone is thinking 13 will withstand the test of time like past games. It's too contemporary imo.

FFVI is my favorite FF by far. Kefka beats all other video game villains hands down. Creepy clown effect? Check. Megalomania? Check. Overthrows his boss and becomes his own boss? Check. Tortures people for laughs? Check. Wiped out an entire race just so he could power his superweapon? Check. Actually succeeds in his goals? BIG CHECK HERE! FF is all about the story, and a story is only as enjoyable as its hero. A hero is only as good as his antagonist, so by having a villain on par with Kefka would greatly improve the story if only because you have to make the hero(es) capable of taking the big bad down at the end. FFXII actually had a decent storyline, they just chose a horrible horrible main character to start you on. Seriously? Vaan, that whiny little bitch? If Balthazar had more screen time at the start I probably would have enjoyed it more.
