spam beer thread

this is mostly for pasghetti and possibly shiro but everyone is welcome

all the fall beers are gone (rip octoberfest) and the christmas beers are here and I want to find good ones. a thread on reddit turned me on to Great Lakes Christmas Ale and I'm very curious to try it out. can anyone vouch for it?

also what other beers are good this time of year, seasonal or otherwise

I also intend to pick up la fin du monde soon as shiro has mentioned it before and I found it being sold in a local store, but I haven't yet justified $9 for a bottle

Shit's brewed only in December and then aged for a year or something like that. Alcohol content was pretty high on it too if I remember correctly.

The hell is the difference between a winter and fall beer exactly? Maybe it's the canuck in me, but the second the leaves change I start drinking darker beers... What exactly am I drinking in winter, darker dark beers?

I was always told fall beers had more of an amber color to them and are lighter in body where winter beers are straight up dark and heavy. Not saying it's right(as I'm sure it's not) but meh.

I've never given much consideration to seasonal beers and just drank yuengling or lionshead year-round, but I turn 25 next month and I should really develop some fucking culture and class in my life before it's too late.

Seriously. The American craft brew explosion is at its peak right now, there are so many great beers and a lot of stuff is actually being distributed outside of local brew regions.
