So I'm pretty certain we had this thread once before, but it was a few years ago, and wasn't "updated" or anything.

Here's my plan: I'll keep track of the thread, and update the OP. Everyone can post their top 5, and I'll keep a tally. (Doing top 5 instead of 1 cuz do we really need a FFT appreciation thread?)

First place= 5 points, fifth = 1 point. I'll try to keep up and add any game listed, even if it's only a single mention in the 1 point spot.

The goal? A definitive list of BG's favorite games. Looking for something to play? Just come check the list, start at the top and pick the first thing that looks interesting!

I thought long and hard about putting FFXI or WoW in the 5th spot, but I couldn't bring myself to list WoW due to cata/panda blowing balls, and FFXI's community being decimated over the years, showing just how much more important the friends were than the game itself.

I want to stay consistent with my former picks, but I really don't remember all of them.
Nevermind, just searched and found my former top 10. Definitely nixing a couple of them lol. Kinda going with the idea of "if you put it in front of me, would I play it and enjoy it"

The shit is so subjective I don't really wanna tell people how to make their lists, so I'll let you decide if you wanna separate stuff or not.


Personally I'd lean towards accounting for continuity. I.E. not playing age of empires 1 isn't going to affect your enjoyment of age of empires 2 like, at all. Same with Dark Souls vs demon souls and the King's Field predecessors. Jumping into MGS on 4 might, I honestly couldn't say how big of an effect it would have.

So, yeah. Just use your own judgement. If you think I should be listing a game as the whole series, go for it. If you want specific ones scored, that's fine too.

I can't do this list. I'm having a hard time trying to integrate offline games with online games. I mean I played FFXI for 8-9 years. But I don't think it comes anywhere near Zelda:LttP in greatness. I loved Demon Souls &Baldur's Gate 2, but I've only played it through them three times. Do they compare to the amount of days played I have at the various CoD games? I wish I smoked pot so I could delve into this thought process more.
