Shit, this is super hard. Most of these could be easily substituted or replaced, there are at least a couple dozen games I can think of off the top of my head that could easily contend for my personal top 5

now, i shall explain the reasoning behind my choices:

1. For the sheer overwhelming volume of enjoyment I got out of this game over the years. It being the one game I've played far and away more than any other, definitely deserves some special recognition.

2. For re-invigorating my interest in 2D fighting games (not to mention the super cool character designs, gameplay system, soundtrack, etc.), even though I didn't really start putting a lot of time/effort into them until the '09 era when BlazBlue came out (and later picked up SF4); could easily be replaced with the SF4 series on this list in terms of sheer enjoyment and quality and all that, however.

3. Similar to FFXI, I couldn't begin to count how many times I've played through this game. Still do an annual blitz through just for the hell of it. In terms of gameplay quality and nostalgia factor and all that, it could be substituted with Super Metroid which is probably just as fun, but SotN edges it out for having one of the most remarkable soundtracks of any videogame.

4. The peak of my interest in FPS games, and the one that really got me into online gaming. Used to spend countless hours with my clan doing all-rails instagib back in 2000-2002, during the end of my dialup/beginning of broadband years (and back when dialup/HPB players were still the norm).

1. I loved playing Halo 3 . Not many games that i can just sit and play all day long. I was pretty awesome at it too which makes it one of the few games I am good at.

2. FFX is my favourite FF. The story for me is the best.

3. After playing FFXI for 3 years solid and on off for about 6 i can't not mention it. I've played no game like i played it but i moved on from it and nowadays i don't get the same enjoyment from it.

4. Halo 2 was the first Halo game i bought. One of my friends introduced it to me when i was at his for a sleepover. Safe to say as soon as i got playing there was no way i was sleeping that night. It holds a special place in my heart.

5. I've always been a big fan of the GTA series but Vice City is the one i have the fondest memories of. I remember many of my teenage days being spent hammering the game.


I noticed in the list too that Halo 2 is listed twice. Once with 5 points and again with 4.
