Need help to recover data from a corrupt SD card

I have an SD card that I have in my cell phone with a lot of pictures on it that suddenly became unrecognizable. Is it possible to recover the pictures from the SD card with some sort of software?

Could try Smart Recovery from Convar or Recuva from Piriform. Probably others too.

What if the computer can't see the SD when you plug it in. What possible methods is there to get my computer to recognize the SD card?

Not sure if there's much/anything you can do at that point. I've not had SD cards fail like that, but have seen some USB sticks that did and there was nothing to be done.

to expand on that, try just booting from a live linux cd and using gparted to see if you can at least get it recognized and mounted

Most of the commands listed there are universal. If you are using something other than Ubuntu, just ignore the use of 'sudo.'
