I feel like I've said this in the thread but it may have been in response to PMs, but:

The image provided isn't asking you to identify as one of the figures. It's essentially asking "Which one looks best to you?" (which was my original phrasing but I was instructed to be more specific). If you don't have a preference, select "no preference".


Hilariously enough one thing I'm learning from this experience is that people are really, really caught up in the idea of there being a 'right' answer, or in pleasing imaginary survey gods. A number of people have written me saying "I thought [x], is that okay?" I'm not looking at answers going OH MAN, LOOK AT THIS RETARD, HE GOT HIS PREFERENCES WRONG. Be honest, don't worry about the overall question, and if you don't have an answer / situation doesn't apply to you, select "no preference" or if it isn't available, skip the question!

I answered your survey. Not really sure how much help I will be though because my ideal partner height wise is exactly what my girlfriend is, so I pretty much just answered based on that. (I'm 6 feet tall and she's 5'10").

I hypothesize there is a strong relationship between being in a committed relationship and liking someone that is your partner's height. That is probably well established, though, and there is probably a higher correlation between current relationship satisfaction and preference. The survey does not attempt to assess relationship satisfaction directly, so this is probably not the point.

The data collected allows Isladar to compare height preference based on sex, orientation, relationship status, and the heights of your parents. I don't know anything about the literature so I cannot guess what parts of that are interesting or novel.

I kind of wish there was a "same height or shorter" option for preferred height, although maybe the height range questions account for that.

i'm surprised it wasn't detailed better on bust hips eye colour and maybe even hair colour/style (some men like shaved heads some like long hair going down to there butt)

Would make sense. At a certain point your initial attraction and ideal attraction definitely seem to become the same in a committed relationship.
