there isn't really a great test for herpes if you don't have an active outbreak going on. also, syphilis test is a couple of hundred bucks, and also often doesn't have external symptoms after the first stage. honestly this stuff's no joke and it makes me /facepalm reading threads like this.

Not really. Most of the people in this thread have said they don't care about numbers. The poll isn't a good indicator, since many people (myself included) misread and thought it was asking how many partners you've had.

Tests for those viruses are not part of the standard STD test regimen. Herpes generally needs to be tested locally from a suspected sore, and HPV is so ridiculously common that they typically don't test for it, and even if they do they won't specify whether the strain is a type that causes genital warts.

So, in a word, no.

I think you misunderstood what i was responding to. I was saying that how many partners my bf has had in the past is irrelevant. I wasn't saying i would have unprotected sex with him, although if i do that's no business of yours.

Ideally, none of us should ever be having sex without condoms, even in a committed relationship. Unless you intentionally want to get someone pregnant.

What is this I don't even. Syphilis is freely tested at many STD clinics, and is easily detected and treated. This is 2012, not 8012.

last time the subject came up it was right around $350 on my end. YMMV, as far as cost/coverage? problem with it is it has few symptoms for many people once the initial canker/sore/whatever clears up, so you have that scare, then it goes away, and you dont' bother getting tested, etc.

Herpes tests can be done with a blood test without a questionable sore. You just have to specifically request it. I know this personally, I've had one after a particularly stupid decision, despite not having a questionable sore. Cost me $20 at Planned Parenthood (I'm a straight male, btw).

They test it for you for free if you're donating blood, at least through the American Red Cross. HIV, Hepatitis, and Syphillis are all screened for. This certainly isn't the preferred way to get tested, but if you donate, and test positive for one of these things, they will tell you.

Still got my shit from the clinic last time I went. They don't even charge, they would like a $10 donation though, which I think everybody brings anyway to not seem like a cheap ass. They give you the antibiotic pills or shot on the spot and they test for everything. Although its always packed in there, so sometimes it's hard to get an appointment
