From what I gather Niro has been living as a woman for quite some time. Just remembering old posts where her patients tell her to get married have kids etc. There's really nothing to "spring" on her co-workers or patients. It's not their business what goes on in her personal life. I understand what you were trying to say though.

I think we are having two different conversations (where I'm just mostly being obnoxious because commuting is boring).

My first week of my new job in the summer, I was taken to an emergency mental health clinic by a friend because I had been severely depressed. They kept me overnight and got me on some meds, got into counseling, etc. Things are better now. But I also had no way of informing my employer of my absence (they took away my phone, possessions, everything, and I was supposed to be in at 7am).

Anyways, I had to have my friend call in, and of course my boss for my new job confronted me after the whole ordeal. It's a vastly different situation than you're in, but I still haven't come clean about what happened. I just told him it was serious, I was hospitalized, things are ok, it's not chronic, moving on. I know to this day that situation put me in bad standing with him, I wish I could come clean about what happened, but it wouldn't make things better, and it's really just none of his business. He'll get over it, and proving that I'm a good employee, much like you say you are, those things just won't matter as much.
