Specific difference between Omega Weapon and Omega. Teledji Adeledji called the weapon "Omega" without the "Weapon" portion, and I just went with the famous interdimensional robot that traverses the different Final Fantasy games. It's not really outside of the realm of possibility, because we have Gilgamesh, Cloud of Darkness, Shantoto and the Ascians who all use the Void/Interdimensional Rift.

I'm not taking away from Allags being a highly advanced race of people. It's well known that they are lightyears ahead of Garlemald and their Garlean/Ala Mhigan engineers. That wasn't up for argument at all, lol. I'm just saying they might have chanced upon an interdimensional robot who's well known to hunt a famous dragon across dimensions. It would further lend itself to their expertise and ingenuity that not only did they uncover Omega, but had the advanced expertise to fully repair and perhaps even upgrade it.

They could have honestly built it as well, but I'm simply seeing it from another vantage point, that of the current lore of how Omega exists in previous Final Fantasy games.

It's a device that predates the Allags. It can absorb Primal Energies (Aether) and convert it into an energy source. The Ascians know how to activate it and make it work as well, leading to their "alliance with Garlemald" to reconstruct the Ultima Weapon. With it being charged it assists in reviving Zodiark in some form or fashion as well. It's implied that the Ascians (Lahabrea) literally gave it to Gaius to further their own goals secret goals. It might be of Ascian origin.

I was just being slightly facetious and all. lol

But there's not really much to go on at this point, but I had the same Omega in mind. As an aside, hopefully Ultima is indeed still functioning (that island on which the Students of Baldesion were headquartered, being obliterated recently). That battle at the Praetorium was too anti-climactic for it just go down so easily.

This reminds me a lot of an episode of TNG, "A Matter of Time".

God dammit, I keep falling for your shenanigans. >_>

I think the Island of Bal was simply cast into the Void (Just like in Final Fantasy V) and will return soon enough, come expansion time. It's really god damn annoying that G'raha Tia hasn't made any mention of his comrades simply disappearing off the face of Eorzea however. Or maybe he has some sort of secret agenda regarding his Allag heritage.

The Void would be the likely scenario if they play it up more as we lead up to 3.0. If not, then maybe it being outright destroyed is the more likely scenario. Since the island's disappearance/destruction coincides with the push to learn more about the Echo and how the Ascians relate to it, it probably doesn't really serve the Ascians' ends to just yank it away temporarily (then again, they also kind of just troll and they might just want to deny the Scions answers for abit).

As an aside, I really hope our Unei and Doga clones don't perish; their loredumps and knowledge are too valuable.

I'm tired as fuck, and it may or may not be something we've covered here already (if we didn't i'd be shocked), but Louisoix's staff is called Tupsimati.

    Spoilers just as a precaution.

    Spoiler: show
So, Moenbryda and Urianger tell us that the Isle of Val has quite literally disappeared, and that scholars studying the phenomenon called "dimensional compression" - or the "Rejoining" also disappeared. Krile remains unconcious/comatose.

The XIVth Legion still seems like a rather formidable, if leaderless, force. Castrum Meridianum seems more functional, or at least capable of garrisoning a rather sizable force, than it should be, after having an Ultima blast go off inside of it. The new Emperor, Varis zos Galvus, seems like he's going to be massive fucking trouble. This dude is playing the long game, as evidenced by our beloved triple agent Roaille. In light of his intelligence, cunning and Hulk-tier physique, one has to wonder how the fuck dragons vs. religious zealots is going to be the first expansion over the Emperor of Mankind. One would also wonder how long it'll take for Varis to solidify his grip on the Empire (i'd be willing to bet it takes the entirety of Heavensward! How convienent.).

The female leaders discussing over tea, and Nanamo intending to dissolve the sultinate, kind of also raises questions about how they'll tie this up, short of actually activating Omega at some point in Heavensward.

Finally, Midgardsormr is coming back, bitches.

So I was thinking. The world has 12 deities and 2 supreme deities.
The 2 are light and dark, known to us as Hydaelyn and Zodiark. For the other twelve, each element has 2 deities associated with it. We know them as the Twelve. The Twelve, according to the Acsians, are as summonable as the primals. Ala Mhigo tried to summon Rhalgar and failed or stopped by the Garleans. But what if the beastmen races succeeded in summoning the Twelve? The beastmen have their own lore and history so whichever deity from the twelve they summoned, had a different appearance, gender and name than the one in the lore of man. I tried to match each primal with one of the twelve and here is what I came up with:

Ifrit/Azeyma: during the opening cutscene of Ifrit's fight, it appears as if he is blocking the sun and then it appears as if he comes out of the sun itself. Azeyma is the keeper of the sun.

Titan/Nophica: the kobolds are miners and have plenty of ores and resources, so worshiping Nophica, the deity of soil and abundance, would be a solid choice.

Garuda/Oschon: Oschon is the ruler of mountains and god of vagrants. Ixali are trying to get back to their homeland so perhaps they consider themselves vagrants and chose their deity accordingly.

Leviathan/Thaliak: Thaliak is the god of wisdom and Leviathan taught his Sahagin minion how to obtain the echo. A scholar old enough to be worshiped would surely know how to do this.

Ramuh/Byregot: Ramuh is a well mannered primal and the slyphs have the prettiest housing items from their tribe quests. They have their own silk. Art. Byregot is the god of art.

Bismarck/Llymlaen: Llymlaen is the goddess of navigation and watcher of seas. But she commands the element of wind and not water. Sea of clouds, flying whale.

Shiva/Menphina: She slept with a dragon knowing that it's the ultimate sin. Menphina is the lover. Keeper of the moon. Fenrir, a wolf with moon-related abilities guards her crystal.

Ravana/Althyk: Althyk's sign is an hourglass and he's the surveyor of change. Maybe a nomad tribe would like to not be nomads? Also process of elimination since Nophica is taken.

I might be on to something or I might skipped a cutscene where this is completely debunked in the game already.
Added shiva up there. Obviously 2.4 spoilers in both spoilers.
    Spoiler: show
Iceheart's words seemed genuine. Being biased to my own theory, here is where I went with her comment. The Garleans wanted to invade Mor Dhona, a land rich with Aether. Maybe due to their hate of Primals, or as they call them Eikons (eikon in Greek means image), they wanted to take control and reinforce the seal on the lake to prevent anyone from summoning anything. Someone (Hydaelyn? Zodiark?) didn't want that and awoken Midgardsormr to war against the Garleans. Shit hit the fan and the seal was broken. The Garleans equated those the echo and beastmen. And Iceheart, an echo user herself, showed us that she is able to summon. Just like Lou summoned the power of the twelve.

What I'm getting at here is, Eikons are different images of the same power/entity. When people are in distress, they'll summon their god of old. Their prayers would reach the appropriate member of the Twelve and it will appear in whatever image the people who prayed imagined. The Twelve are neither good nor evil. They'll be whatever the summoner wants them to be. For example, Garuda is crazy because the Ixal are crazy.

    They explain that sort of:
    Spoiler: show
She was like a quadruple agent, working about forty different angles just trying to get ahead in life. An Ishgardian wildwood enlisted in the Immortal Flames spying for the Garlean Empire and Monetarists. By letting Operation Archon go through (they even specifically bring up Operation Archon) she helps the dissenting Garlean royalty in trying to rein in Gaius (who is apparently acting independently of the Empire, like Darnus now [a change I didn't like]) and the Monetarists drag out the war for profit. So by letting Operation Archon happens, she benefits from both of her masters getting what they want

Wasn't this established from the start in that initial ARR Garlean cutscene when the spy is talking about Gaius getting all srs bsns, likely spurred by Lahabrea handing him Ultima Weapon under the table...?

I really got hooked on the game lore lately. Is there a big compendium for it? (OP seems kinda outdated)

Not sure if it was talked about before but is it just me or (Shiva fight spoilers)

    Spoiler: show
The Ascian guy at the end of the fight looked and sounded remarkably like Urianger? Seemed to have the same voice actor (in english) and had similar facial hair as him. I might have been a bit delirious as I finished it pretty late last night but the voice work reminded me immediately of him without his normal way of speaking.

The second he opened his mouth, I thought the same thing. I convinced myself by the end of the scene that he just sounded similar... but I've seen worse twists and there must have been some premeditated purpose for his lines being voiced instead of text.
