Guess I just assumed it at a glance since every Ishgardian has been.
Guess I just assumed it at a glance since every Ishgardian has been.
The ishgardian boss guy made a point of stating she wasn't a native ishgardian, but that he trusted her as much as one.
Also she has rounded ears. pretty big clue you aren't an elezen
A couple of the garleans have the body model of an elezen (Nael and Nero) but the face of a hyur. Though, Nael is suspect since we never actually saw his real face.
Aside from all of the races being much more normalized in XIV (when creating an elzen F char you an adjust their ear size down to practically normal) there's the whole mis-matched race-animation thing:
I didn't go back and rewatch the CSs but I'll bet my ass she uses elzen F animations.
(also I think it's pretty obvious by now that all racial Garleans are hyur, there aren't any half-breed characters in the game either)
I thought from the start that she was mixed. She's too lanky to be Hyur but she lacks the facial features of an Elezen.
Completely unrelated, but the lamia in Sastasha HM are the miqo'te girls from Sastasha NM, right? Do they get turned into Lamia the same way the pirates were turned into... whatever they are? The quest says the pirates were turned into jellyfish by prolonged and repeated exposure to water-aspected Aether, but I thought the Lamia were an actual beast tribe? Perhaps I'm just confusing XI with XIV.
If they're not an actual beast tribe though, I guess that puts the Lamia in Turn 7, and the Allagans who made them, in a bit of a different light.
*sigh* I'm sure they will, even though it'll no doubt be limited to a few token NPCs and people will barely even notice.
It just seems so silly to me, "yea there's these 5 races all living together and they can totally interbreed but only this 1 hybrid character in the world exists for some reason".
It -kind of- made sense in XI because the races were more differentiated in appearance and segregated in population, but neither apply in XIV.
They aren't a beast tribe in any fashion in XIV, you're mixing up XI and XIV. It is confusing because it is implied that the Lamias in T7 were of a similar origin as XI (chimeric bioweapons etc etc) however it could simply be that the Allagans knew how to alter one's body by overaspecting their aether. After all, it wouldn't be the first time Allagnas have used a person's aether without their consent. But yes, it is implied that the lamia in Satasha are made the same way the Pirates were made into jelly-men and that they are the captured women from Satasha.
o. ic. Never mind then!
Minor FCOB shit:
Spoiler: show
Don't you worry your pretty little heads, Ishgard is sure to be filled with fantastic racists. It's a town of Elezen zealots engaged in a holy war afterall.
More seriously, the reason I figure we don't see hybrids merely comes down to SE not wanting to expend the resources on those models. Same reason skeletons tend to be hyurs regardless of location.
Which is why it's silly to introduce them.
"Races can't interbreed, the end"
The way they described Ishgard as a city that was divided in two parts, the lower half where the common folk reside, and the upper part where the nobles live made me think of something. It's awfully similar to the way Aht Urghan Whitegate and Al Zahbi were conceived. All this talk of oppressed half-breeds relegated to the battle-ravaged, empoverished section of the city... and the teaser trailer with Ishgardian knights fighting to protect the city walls. I'm wondering if there will be a Besieged 2.0 with a Rampart zone that is full of FATEs. Maybe even a conquest system to take back land from the Dravanian horde. Oh god... need to take my FFXI goggles off.
