There's one shot in the trailer (the Churning Mists Rocl mentioned?) of something that gave me a pretty strong vibe of the Cyclone-With-A-Fortress-In-It-For-Some-Reason that the FF2 Emperor (Mateus, I think they retconned him, which is an Important Name in the Ivalice and also FF14 context) used to try to wreck the good guys toward the end of the game. They could be making a play in that kind of direction, for some more nostalgia value.

Or it might just be a chance to reuse some Riverne designs that they were sad people didn't spend enough time appreciating in 11.

And put me down as another vote for the Warring Triad presence being pure sex.

Ishgardian architecture extends into the Dravanian Hinterlands, which confuses me since I thought Ishgardians came from the south ? (as evidenced by Haldrath's March) Though there is a lot of unfamiliar architecture there which could be Sharlayan.
The sunken city with a magical barrier in front of an ominous mountain peak feels like it should be Sharlayan to me and I hope it is.
The whole Churning Mists deal confuses the hell out of me too. Why is shit suspended in air? Like, we have reason to believe floating continents have existed for hundreds of years from Darnus and Sezul Toloc, but Toloc's people thought they were legends and not real while Darnus tells us they're born of Allagan technology.
Sea of Clouds is confusing in English since it exists as a landmark already in 2.0, but the French vid which I watched accidentally clarified it's the Sea of Clouds in Abalthia's Spine. Still who the fuck is setting up these aetherytes lol

I definitely think this is Sharlayan. I think we’re going to see the remnants of the students of Baldesion and explore the lore library with them. I almost feel like Cid’s grandson Mid should be here but that obviously wouldn’t make much sense in FFXIV’s story.

I am wondering though if the powerful magic that destroyed the Isle of Val has something to do with Alexander, if it’s Ultima weapon, or if it’s something separate entirely that maybe caused the Isle of Val to become the Churning Mists.

I think the Sea of Clouds seems more like what Sezul Toloc was referring to when he spoke of the legends. It makes sense since the Vanu Vanu seem to live here and they might even be distantly related to the Ixal. There’s also still the Sky Map areas that we access via airship that may even be completely independent of any of the areas teased in the trailer.

As for the aetherytes, there are what appear to be Ishgardian knights in several locations throughout the trailer. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ishgard has been quietly stationing expeditionary forces across the north to prepare for the coming conflict.

The Warring Triad on the Allagan Continent leads to some pretty big questions tho, like why would the Allagans have statues of that shit? Also it means those should be some of the oldest Eorzean ruins--only the Crystal Tower should be older iirc? The Coils are remnants of Dalamud which was created after Xande's resurrection and the other ruins we see are from the Dark Ages between his reigns. (Though some of the architecture of the Hinterlands is reminiscent of Dark Age Allagan, it's definitely not the same)
I don't buy the warped human+dragon statue shit, but we'll see. The last bit of the trailer is flashes to a bunch of zones; the warped human+dragon statue looks like it's in the Forelands crimson dark matter area (which looks like Boulder Down shit)

I’m actually wondering if the Allagans aren’t so much directly involved but instead that their technology has been coopted by the dragons. We know that the Allagans developed technology to control dragons via neurolinks. There was a bit of exposition on this in Coil, but I can’t quite remember if there was much closure on this.

My wild guess is that the floating continent is Allagan technology built during the expansion of their empire and used during their conflict with Meracydia. The Meracydian dragons were fitted with neurolinks just as the dragons in Dalamud were and used as weapons by the Allagan army. After the fall of the Allagan empire the dragons on the floating continent remained and the power of the neurolinks began to fade allowing the dragons to exert their independence and they have since used the floating continent as HQ.

Now I just want to know the names of the 7 wyrmkings we’ll be facing. Midgardsormr told us only 2 of his brood were in Eorzea at present, so I wonder if the others will come from outside or if there will be some that weren’t sired by Midgardsormr. I wonder if Scarwing is still alive.

Interesting points of the Tour:

The ruined 1.0 aetheryte camp is likely Riversmeet. I believe it's the first time we've seen a 1.0 aetheryte as well, though it appears to be overaspected toward ice now, which would make sense considering Snowcloak.

I highly, highly, highly doubt it, but it could also be Falcon's Nest as well, right? But there being an aetheryte should eliminate the possibility I guess.

Some famous FF character(s) will appear in Ishgard.

Cid and other similar key-NPCs will move to Ishgard. Probably Roena too seeing as how she already has a monopoly in Eorzea.

Gerolt will moving somewhere in his quest to craft the ultimate kettle.

Villages and outposts in Ishgard will use names from 1.0. One of those villages survive on Chocobo hunting.

The 7 heavenly dragons will be key to the Ishgard quest. Nizbeck, Bahamut, Tiamat, and more. Bahamut's story will how he was summoned and captured will also be revealed.

And Omega too.

So we finally get a bit of info on the 7 dragon names. I know Yoshi-P teased the fact that Nidhogg would be making an appearance, so there's 4 names already.

I hope there's at least a Freya reference in Ishgard. Even if it's just in a pub somewhere.

So the Blades and Crystal Braves, makes a mutiny and kills Nanamo (FUCK) and everyone in the Scions gets accused of it. Raubahn (SP) lost an arm, and Minfilla, Yda, Papalymo, Tancred and Y'shtola seems to all die too.

Only 'scion's left are Alphinaud and his Sister, Us, Tataru, Yugiri and Urianger

This is the most epic end of story that we could've expected Well done SE WELL FUCKING DONE

I actually liked them all, even Minfilia. She isn't as useless as many people think she is and she's quite a good leader given what she does both onscreen and behind the scenes. But it was obvious from the story and what Yoshi-P has said that Heavensward was basically their reset button. A Realm Reborn was providing a foundation for the game and wrapping up 1.0, but 3.0 is the fuuuuture.

The ending cutscenes were great but I have mixed feelings about the presentation of the story this patch. I was not very pleased with the Trial (the ascian fight from part 1 felt like a better "final boss" fight to me) and I could've really done without the two random errands in the final arc (even tho one of them ended up having a purpose).

I'm also disappointed about the lack of world progression... just having dragons flying across the skies of Coerthas would've done it for me, but they didn't even bother with that.

I highly doubt any of the Scions are dead. Even if they stick with killing off the Sultana, I felt like the scenes with the Scions were just played up to make things feel more dramatic. We'll probably swoop in eventually and save everyone again in 3.0.

I still don't think they did. I think it's the 'off screen anime "death"' where they aren't actually dead, but just trapped somewhere.
