Idk if any of you are drgs or leveled to 50 and did quest.

But when aymeric presents Estinien has the strongest drg, Estinien breaks the conversation to admit you are the strongest. Idk if you have to have simply done quest, or have to be viewing CS as drg.

Maybe they will ad subtle things like this for old quests that involve nanamo if you are past story when she dies.

Also, I think it would make more sense that Tataru be in league with the monetarists than the ascians. Considering her being the bookkeeper and what not.

I know it's probably not the case, but I want the one-armed man to be the DRK teacher. Would also explain why the jobs are locked behind completion of the story as well.

I don't see that as an option really, seeing as the new jobs more than likely originate in Ishgard and he is locked up in Ul'dah. If he does escape, I doubt he would be willing to nurture a fledgling DRK over bringing the parties responsible for everything to justice.

Also it wouldn't make much sense for him to be like, "Let me teach you the ways of the DRK. Oh, by the way, I just made this shit up a few months ago, but I'm totally a master at it."

I think it might be an Au Ra that will be the master.

Machinist might have something to do with cid/biggs/wedge?

The question is, will the job's story be based off hate? anger? or plain use of dark arts? Could be use of dark arts to defend a noble cause.

I just hope they can use g sword and scythe.

edit: Au Ra males seem to have that angry poop face. Kinda reminds me of Galkas. Like they have been oppressed.

I'm actually wondering about when we where we will get the three new jobs. Yoshi has only said that we will need to beat 2.55 "to get to Ishgard." But will we be able to get the new jobs in current areas? Like around Ishgard/Mor Dohna? Cid/Biggs/Wedge for Machinist would be cool (although they are also characters tied to the story and not immediately out in the open world so maybe not if we don't need 2.55)

I feel like machinist will be related to Ironworks but they will just add a new member to run machinist guild. Magitek mount quest added Jessie in rather then use Cid, Biggs and Wedge as CT storyline was still ongoing.

If you watch the videos teasing the expansion that were released recently, you'll see the Machinist guild symbol in Ishgard. Yoshi-P has also already mentioned that all of the new jobs will be in Ishgard as well.

SE would be fools to lock the new jobs inside Ishgard, for new players' sake.

I was thinking the same, someone new who picked up HW because they really love Dark Knight would be forced to play for weeks just to be able to play it.

"I found this job stone in prison, equipped that motherfucker and tanked my way out! By the way, names Raubahn, I used to be the leader of the Immortal Flames until I took a sword to the arm."

Someone new will definitely be teaching us how to dork. Mastering the darkness to shield allies and what not.

"Editor’s Note: After publishing this story, we received clarification from Square Enix for this question. The updated answer follows, but we’ve left the original answer in the story for transparency’s sake.

Naoki Yoshida: You will have to already own A Realm Reborn, plus complete all of the main story quests up through Patch 2.55. After that, an introductory quest for Heavensward will become available; accepting that quest will then guide you through the gates of Ishgard. All of the job quests related to the new jobs will be in Ishgard as well, so the condition to access those will be the same. If a player had stopped playing around Patch 2.2 or 2.3, it would be best to revisit the A Realm Reborn main story quests to get back into the groove as you head towards Heavensward!

Original Answer: If you already own A Realm Reborn and you get Heavensward, you’ll be able to at least enter Ishgard. The new jobs added in Heavensward are not tied to the main story, so those are accessible as well. In terms of the story, if you want to enjoy the Heavensward story arc, since it’s tied to the upcoming 2.55 patch, it’s a prerequisite to have finished that content. If a player had stopped playing around patch 2.2 or 2.3, I’d recommend choosing one of the new jobs and leveling that up while catching up on the story, then transitioning into Heavensward."

Well, that explains where I got that (outdated) impression then. Pity for the new folks.

I could swear I saw an article where Yoshi-P mentioned that Ishgard access would not be required for unlocking the new jobs. If it is...that is the single stupidest decision of the expansion and will likely turn a lot of new players off.

There has been a lot of people on Reddit trying to state that the Crystal Braves and the Scions are separate entities, making it impossible for Tataru to be seen as a villain. However re-watching this scenes confirms that the Crystal Braves are in fact a paramilitary arm of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn:

#6 Alphinaud It will be on a much smaller scale than what we hope to eventually achieve, but capable of the same manner of unrestricted operation accorded to the Scions. 'Tis my hope that the successful utilization of such a force will lend momentum to the lagging deliberations.
#7 Alphinaud Also, being a primarily military outfit, I mean to assuage fears of its misuse by placing the fledgling organization under the authority of the Antecedent.
#8 Alphinaud The Scions work tirelessly to protect Eorzea and its people.
#9 Alphinaud ...But as you yourself have witnessed with the refugee revolt, there are limitations to what even we can achieve.
#10 Alphinaud With this new company under the Scions' command, however, we will be capable of responding to a wider range of difficulties without straining our resources or overtaxing your formidable talents.
#11 Alphinaud The goals of my proposed organization and those of the Scions are ultimately identical─a point conceded by all concerned.
So basically, the Crystal Braves prior to 2.55 are for all intents and purposes an arm of the Scions, meaning Tataru may be it's bookkeeper.

EDIT: Just for added effect, we should have listened to the bum in Ul'dah since day one:

#82 Landebert My advice, soldier? Cut your ties and run. Your shining company'll be naught but a puppet that dances to the Syndicate's tune.
EDIT #2: Lolorito did not fund the Crystal Braves:

You might want to get off the OF train because they're not good company. As I told another, where do you think it's acceptable to make an expansion, but clusterfuck everything in Eorzea? To make an expansion and not give incentive for people to buy it and go to the new areas? To think they'd develop something for you to not buy/play it is completely idiotic.

Because people would unlock the new jobs and just hang out in the old zones doing old, dated content forever.

    Speaking of idiotic....

I don't want to be that guy but pretty sure most XI expansions' new jobs didn't require you to be up to date with story (granted each expansion was basically standalone after Shadow Lord).

One only need to check a quarter of what you post on here to see the hypocrisy in that statement. It gets back to when I dropped that same comment on you when you last said it. Why compact every major function/opportunity in the first three city-states? Not only for reasons I listed before, but also for, "Hey, I'm a Dark Knight living just outside of Ul'dah that no one's ever known about," and then repeating that every expansion. It's as dumb as complaining about playing the game; playing the "base" of the game.

In relevance to the thread instead of more whining for instant gratification:

We see Yda and Papalymo, Y'shtola and Thancred encompassed in light, and then we see Hydaelyn's light strike Minfillia's attention where she then tells us we cannot stay. Coupled with E-Sumi-Yan saying the elementals can't find a trace of the Scions, it seems likely Hydaelyn took them in, (or took them somewhere beyond), and we could not go with them due to Midgarsormr's blessing, so Hydaelyn couldn't help us still. I wonder if this means we likely won't see the Scions again until after Midgarsormr's trial is completed. Which, if it is to break the cycle of the son's paying for the sins of the fathers, meaning likely towards the end of, or the end of 3.x.
