Is there a dragon that historically had a lightning/ice base? I feel if any group is going to summon a new primal it will be dragonkin.

Closest I can think of is Valigarmanda / Tritoch.

I think it will be awhile before all out Garlean expansion. That will probably be endgame because there will be no real threat besides primals once Garleans are dealt with.

As far as grand companies, seeing how the story ended I'm thinking Ishgard will form it's own in a couple of patches and that's when we also get new ranks finally.

Moon stuff does seem pretty likely going forward. If Midgardsormr originated there, I wonder how explicit they'll be FF4-lore-wise. Will the moon dragons be called Lunarians? FuSoYa? KluYa? Six more crystals to light up there? "One to be born of the dragon, hoisting the light and the dark" etc? Maybe the missing two First Brooders are half human and named Cecil and Golbez. Ok, I'll stop.

Lunar Surface/Subterranean/Core would make an excellent Crystal Tower 3.0, though. The potential music...

Yoshida already spoilers'd that he wanted 4.0 to be on the moon before 3.0 even launched. It wouldn't surprise me if we were there briefly sooner.

Not necessarily. He is basically you doing the right thing from an ascian point of view.

Tho we're heading to the moon, which is what I believe will be the conclusion of 3.0, I'm pretty sure 4.0 will be the sea. Thought I read somewhere (can't find it ATM) that Yoshi P basically had a choice between the sky and the sea for 3.0, and chose the sky.

I figured the WoD's appearance was meant to be a throwback to the FF1 Fighter sprite, iirc he has reddish hair in the CS right?

I can't think of any other reason they'd put him in WAR AF, without a helm, and give him red hair.

So, this may have been brought up before and it's honestly very nitpicky. My friends even laugh at me for it, but does the way the Au Ra were handled bother anyone else? I mean, this is the lore nerd in me speaking, but they were just sort of dropped in as a vanity item. Aside from the little tease with Yugiri there has really been no mention of them so far. It's an entirely new race of people that are now freely interacting with us. There are half dragon/demon/whatever people wandering about in mass numbers and it doesn't even get mentioned? One of the things I liked about WoW was at least when they introduced a new race they made it a central theme to the overall story of the expansion. In Heavensward the Au Ra barely make it to a foot note. Honestly, that's my largest complaint so far about HW. I love the story so far, love the new jobs, and love the new voice actors. I was just wondering what anyone else's opinion might be.

When they started insisting the Au Ra were demonic rather than draconic leading up to the expansion I was expecting it to be because of lore reasons, when really they had no lore tied to them at all.

I thought it was a real bummer as well, but I also didn't have any good ideas how they could've integrated them into the story. We all know there isn't anything but Elezen in Ishgard, so it's not like they could really mix them into that. The Ul'dah stuff definitely has no Au Ra involvement, outside of the Yugiri (though I would've liked to see some Au Ra shinobi now that the "big reveal" has passed). I do certainly hope to see more of them as NPCs in the future.

The NIN quest does introduce you to another Au Ra, but as I've only done the lv50 quest, I don't know much about it.

The DRK questline post-50 tells you a bit about them--but nothing substantial. The Ishgardians were the first to interact with the Xaela and thought them to be Dravanians so they killed a whole bunch of'em. They learned better eventually and that's that. So far it just seems like the new race sorta exists and has existed in Eorzea for a while? I dunno.

As for the Warrior of Darkness thing--he's definitely supposed to evoke the stock Warrior of Light from the trailers. It's possible he, and his party, got sent to an alternate dimension Eorzea when Grampa sent them forward in time during Cartenau. I dunno. It'd be super Final Fantasy of them, I guess, to show us the supposed stock WoL in all the trailers and have him actually be a Warrior of Darkness or something.

Au Ra hail from the Doman territories, so since you didn't go east there isn't much to say about them..

I suppose if you really wanna try to justify their increased numbers you can make it a mix of the mass exodus of domans and Ishgard opening borders. But keep in mind it's just adventurers being Au Ra; npc, so the actual overworld still shows very few of them(some job quests).

all those moogle quests and that really long chain of new hunter quests at the Chocobo Village and not one dealing with Au Ra lore was disappointing.
