This is true, but their robes are very ornate, his is a bit lacking. Could that be a representation of their power? Kinda like Ichigo's?

Sohr Khai is "sad apology" literally translated from Dragonspeak, and given the similarities to the Ratatoskr depicted in Hraesvelgr's retelling of Thordan's betrayal it might've been a tomb erected by the Landlords in an attempt to atone before they disappeared

Makes me wonder how fast the landlords could build things must of had a hell of a construction union. Ratatoskr's tomb seems pretty likely and any chance to learn more about the great wyrms is awesome. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being Shiva's grave site though.

It's probably not Ratatoskr's tomb the more I think on it. The Mother of Sheave was constructed post-Shiva, and post-Shiva enough for her to already be legend. Considering there was only like two centuries of peace between man and dragon, this means the majority of the Churning Mist structures would've had to be built then, including Sohr Khai. It's likely Sohr Khai is Ratatoskr's aery like Nidhogg's Aery or Hraesvelgr's Zenith. The name likely came about after Thordan's betrayal though that's a pretty big supposition on my end. It seems relatively intact which means it was spared Nidhogg's wrath over the centuries, so I'm skeptical of it being Shiva-related. After all, Nidhogg had some choice words about Hrae's bae.

iirc, there's some moogle quests and sightseeing log entries in Mists that explicitly state that tharl oom khash is what's left of ratatoskr's aery. or at the very least the site of her death.

Tharl Oom Khash is the place she was killed, yes, but it was never stated to be her aery/home afaik. It's just where Thordan & co lured and killed her

I'm starting to get behind this idea that the WoL will transform into a primal...

Watching the Shiva cutscenes at the end of 2.X its theorized that Ysayle is able to maintain her own freewill while transformed into a primal through her own powers of the Echo.

Maybe in the final confrontation with the Garleans the prayers of Eorzea transforms the WoL into a vessel for a "primal Hydaelyn"?

that's what happened with the last major confrontation with the Garleans. We got Phoenix. I doubt they'll do a full repeat

I get that sense from the foreshadowing in 3.0 too.. But would it be more likely to be this instead?

See I think that conflict with Zodiark will occur with the final conflict with the Garlean Empire

I'm not so sure. It feels like they designed the 2 arcs to be separate but concurrent...

From a world building perspective and FFXI, tho I try not to reference it where I can, I see Zodiark as being like the Promathia of FFXIV (and rightfully so since he's in direct opposition of Hydaelyn). XIVs story thus far has been messy with the build ups but seem quite definite with their endings.. And 3.0 has seen a shift to becoming slightly more episodic. the Garleans on the other hand are like the beastmen of XI. Always there. Different skins, different flavors. But never a resolvable conflict.

My guess is Zodiark will be a main focus in the next expansion probably. The Garleans are but an everpresent force that will always be around regardless of how far along the XIV story expands. And so will Primals, but those will be more flavor of the month spectacles
