Stupid in what sense? For them, or for peace in the region? Also, I wouldn't go so far as to say they'd band together... more like just ignore each other until the culprit is sufficiently wounded, then resume old hatreds, while adding a new one.

Edit: Nevermind, upon further consideration, I think the answer is "both" although it would probably buy a short truce. And maybe some cooperation with rebuilding. Or, more likely, fighting over who gets to rebuild.

    For them.

    Think of it this way.
If you blow the Vatican, you just piss off Catholics (and maybe a few other Christians).
If you blow a US city, you just piss of America.
If you blow Mecca, you just piss off Muslims.

If you blow Jerusalem, you piss off damn near everybody except for some asian nation's populations. I can't think of any other action that would draw a bigger target on a perpetrator.

It's just a matter of how many people are killed. Really don't get me wrong -- I'm really not apathetic about the people being killed, I'm apathetic about the situation. I wish the people wouldn't die, but people don't like leaving their "homes", no matter how long their "claim" to that "home". They've been living there 3000 years, and so what? We've only had this one planet to live on, and in recorded history there is no land that has been occupied by nobody, with very few exceptions to this (with the Northern-North America's as an exception).

I would be interested in comparing the civilian deaths in a place such as Iraq or Afghanistan compared to Palestine.
You've managed to completely ignore the fact that Jews, Christians, and later Muslims of the area managed to get along fine most of the time with the only main exception being the crusades which were caused by an outside source of people too retarded to know wtf they were doing. In the case of the Crusades the people there let the christian people leave incase of a conflict of interest( since even if the crusaders were the christian dude's retarded cousins they were pretty sure they didn't want this crap but it would be stupid to have Christians in their army during a fight against Christians if only to make spy identification easier)and then proceeded to make a Jewish and muslim army for defense.

Sounds like the fast track to fame, History channel specials and a law evoked each time someone brings your name up.

Not a bad deal I say.

A bunch of Nazi jews gangs(not a contradiction. they actually had worked for hitler during WW2) committed terror attacks all over the place. Immigration is closed since there isn't enough room for all these people anyway so they do more terror attacks to help the people relocate to Palestine. More terrorist attacks by jewish people everywhere.

Then they (Zionists)declare the 50/50 solution where they should get half the land despite only having 10% of the population at best after decades of forced immigration including the bloody Holocaust going on. Palestinians somehow think that idea isn't fair. Zionists then commit mass genocide and decide to take the whole place to themselves. UN tells them to stop the mass murder. They keep on doing mass murder. UN begs them to stop mass murder. They keep on doing mass murder. UN offers to make them officially a nation of Israel if they stop committing mass murder. Zionists take the deal and do more mass murder. And that's how Israel was formed.

There are alot more details to fill in but that's the general gist for you and none of them are particularly flattering to Zionism anyway.
Yeah, just a few more details... like ones that don't use the term "mass murder" to justify a political agenda.

I will admit that Hamas is wrong in its arbitrarily aimed rocket attacks.

But you know, since it's their land and it was forcefully taken from them by the SS I'll allow it.

Because the UN is run by majority Christian nations that just looooooooooooooooooooooooove the promised people in the Bible. China doesn't have enough sway to say otherwise.

I'm willing to admit that the rocket fire on random targets from Hamas does little to advance their cause for statehood, while the propaganda from the IDF that papers over the tremendous civilian cost of its blockade, defense of settlements and airstrikes in crowded neighborhoods does little to advance their stated cause of solving terrorism.

Now what do you have to contribute to the conversation?

And I am willing to admit that Bibi is a dick. Like a colossal dick that really has no interest in peace, but he is an elected official and he will be gone eventually. I just think the current political situation and the negative attitude of anti-Israeli commentators ignores the immense and, at the time thought of as impossible work of people like Rabin and Peres. Rabin died for peace. Solely blaming Israel just pisses on Rabin's grave.

Tone? The Israeli/Palestinian situation is so fucked that every approach to peace is valid. Track 2 negotiations originated out of the I/P situation, because it was basically impossible for them to even talk to each other. This is the reason that for years there were peace negotiations even though they knew nothing would be accomplished, because the leaders of both sides needed to learn to at least sit at the table with each other and get used to the notion that they were actually communicating with real human beings instead of just monsters.

Just saying one side is always right is pants-on-head retarded.

You know, just because they're fighting now, you completely ignore the case that this period still encompassed in "getting along most of the time". Fewer people die in today's wars than died before. I also don't like your claim that "people mostly got along, most of the time". Yes, that is why Jerusalem is surrounded by big, thick walls, lol (protip: they only use to build walls around cities that were prone to invasion). As that video bane posted pointed out (in a funny, lighthearted way), Jerusalem has been destroyed twice, besieged 23 times, attacked 52 times, and captured and recaptured 44 times. You'll be hard-pressed to find many ancient cities with a record like that, and despite there being period of people living in relative peace, it always lived under the threat of the next invasion.

But one side took land from another, for no reason other then "fuck you god chose me". I really don't see how its legitimate...
