Here are your candidates speeches. They were each asked to give me a short blurb on why they should be moderator. This is also listed alphabetically and I warn you, a long read but definitely worth it.
<insert drum roll here>
Q: Why do you feel you should be a moderator? Give me a small speech.
Akiyama -- Well, I've been coming to BG for as long as I can remember, granted for a while it was as a lurker. Since I've started posting, I've felt like I was at home, meeting people with the same personality as me, laughing at the same jokes, and I've always liked it. I know going from the

Master to a Moderator is a big step, but I'd be willing to try and bring my unbiased opinions along with me. There's no single person on here that I'd hate more or like more. I'd just want to help out, and do what's right by keeping the forum clean. I've already helped with a few things here and there, to clean things, but I feel maybe I can do more, even if I haven't been around as long. I also bring cake. Everyone loves that, right? Almost as much as hamsters. Anyway, I guess my point is, I'm not sure I'm a much better choice than others out there, but I'd surely work hard at it as I'm typically always around.
Bagel -- Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, Bagel is just like you. He looooves grape soda. He knows what it's like when the guy in the supermarket won't take your FOOD STAMPS. Or how it feels to wait all month for your welfare check. Heeey Hoooo Heeeey Hoooo.
Thank you.
Cairthenn -- A speech? Ugh, how demanding. You really are making this like an election - which sucks because I'm horrible at popularity contests, hehe. I won't try to make it sound like I have an all-important reason, because I really don't. Regardless, I think it'd be pretty entertaining/interesting/can't find the right word to be a moderator..my train of thought was rudely interrupted by a Fafnir which I melee'd as RDM (was pretty amusing but all my WS missed). Ah well, so much for a speech.
Charismatic -- The thread calling for moderators got me thinking...I'm already on BG much of the day, so I figured if there's some way to give back to the BG forum community I'd like to go for it.I finally started posting on BG about a year ago because this was the forum where you could go to talk about the many unknowns (damage calculations, new missions/NMs, etc) without having to sift through a load of bull. Well, unfortunately that's no longer the case, there's definitely a growing problem... I'm sure I have been part of it on occasion too, but I'd like to be part of the solution from this point on whether that means being a moderator or not.
Cheerios -- Who?
Mike Jones.

DAKPluto -- Greetings members of the Blue Gartr forums. I welcome you for the chance to become one of your moderators of the forums. I've always had the up most respect for this community and its dedication to the strategies and testing of FFXI. And I hope to be part of the team that can keep that moving along. These forums have been an amazing help for me and my FFXI career. From solving various NMs, to calculating damage formulas and adjustments, to solving many of the mysterious of Salvage, BG has been a major help. I will do what I can to keep us at the top in this department. I have run other forums before, on my websites and others, and most currently one of the global moderators for the windower.net team. I believe my abilities as a global moderator can be vouched for by them and the members of that forum. Thank you again for reading this and considering me as one of your new moderators for the forums. And remember, do not take moderating for

.
Demosthenes11 -- While I may not be the most popular of the people in this poll, I believe this should be more about the time a moderator can put into the boards. Simply put - I am on these boards A LOT, and am not restricted to only one part. I have a lot of expertise not only in my personal jobs (rdm and blm), but have also done a lot of reading regarding other jobs and such. I have coherency and literacy, and not once have I posted a crackpot theory about AV or AA (tough to do seemingly). With these duties, it's obvious I'll have to take a backseat a little bit to flame wars and I can't be the huge dick you are all accustomed to seeing. I would also like to remind everyone that I have never posted a picture of my penis, nor do I have plans to, and will not judge posts by who posts them as I have no grudges on anyone here. I will also balance the budget, pull out of Iraq, and legalize gay marriage/marijuana. I love these boards just as much as you all do, allow me to give back to it <3
Eanae -- I've been browsing the BG forums for a long time and tend to lurk more then getting involved with drama posts. I know the rules, and know when to enforce them. I spend most of my free time between doing things reading the BG forums or BG irc. I try to keep up on every forum, and read most of the bigger topics that pop up whenever I get the chance. I'm also the same model as Nikkei, and also her hoe.
Falisa -- Well I'm not one to talk about myself much (well at least in the trying to make myself look good way) but I guess here it goes. I haven't been part of the BG forums for very long compared to most of the active members here but I do think I know what it takes to be a moderator. I have always loved helping out in everything I become a part of, and I definitely spend a lot of my days on BG for the past six months. Kinda sad too because I'm always talking the things that go on in this board to my husband to which he has no idea what I'm talking about! But anyways, I really look up the mods on this board and I would love it to be able to help BG stay the way it used to be, because lately we definitely have had need of some extra..."attention" to in certain parts of the board.
Ikith -- Hey you bg. This is Ikith. I know this is a long shot but I figure why not? I have been here for a while sometimes browsing sometimes posting stupid stuff sometimes voicing my opinion. But either way I love this board and it has become a place I visit and see normally. The mods here have done a great job and now they need help. I am willing to do this since I have the time and patience to do so. Please elect Ikith for mod. Delicious cake for all.
Isladar -- WHY I SHOULD BE A BG MODERATOR (formally titled "What I Did Last Summer") by Isladar
I feel that I could add a certain zestiness, nay, a je ne sais quoi (that means "I'm so great" in French) to the BG forums in a moderator position. First off, I play a tall character. This means I understand the needs and concerns of the endgame community, because I can see very far. Secondly, I have been known to use semi-colons in a proper manner, and we all know that semi-colons = smart. Thirdly and thusly, I am thirty-five different flavours of awesome, and am not afraid to be modest. There'd be a 'fourthly' option, but I'd once again like to highlight the 'modest' part of the sentence previous. THE END.
Izembo -- I've been a member of the forums for quite some time. I browse all the sections of the forums regularly and multiple times per day. As long as I'm online I always have a tab open on BG. I'm informed on most of the discussions and only read if I'm not. I've also ran websites for clans from other games and websites that I've owned before and have moderated a few forums before.
Khamsin -- While there are certainly people just as capable as myself in this poll, I believe my personal strengths lie in my maturity and subdued nature. I'll always have an opinion on a topic, but I have never called anyone names or thrown tantrums when people disagree with me. I enjoy a heated discussion, but can see the line between a discussion and a thread that needs locking. As such, there should be little concern for an abuse of power and locking threads just because I don't like the OP or disagree with a topic. Plus, I have a pink adaberk. Vote for pink!
Killerx -- Why do i want to be a mod, this question has been on my mind since i saw nikkei's post. I've been on the forums for a while at least it feels like it, and know whats expected where. The simple just of it is, i spend most of my time just reading and going through the forums and thought why not help when i have the time on my hands. We all want to make these forums the best we can. Might as well do something instead of trying to get a hold of an some one when they have a chance to do something. If voted on i promise to keep be on and help where needed. And to keep out the random shit we all know no one wants. Happy voting BG.
Killgannon -- Hello fellow BGers, my name is Killgannon, and I'm an addict. I come to you in hopes that you may elect me to moderatorship. I am an experienced forums admin/mod of many different forums. I am fair, and I love/hate everyone equally. I deal with stupid people all day (tech support) so I am also very tolerant. I assure you I will be a fair and just mod as I hold no favorites around here.
Kuya -- I'd like to be considered for a mod position because i feel i have sometimes shown that i do enjoy watching the forums run as best as they possibly can. I find that since i check the forums daily and that i enjoy engaging in arguments and debates, that i have more than enough motivation to maintain the forums at their best. I would also like to feel useful and repay the hospitality i have been shown by BG and even the members of BG itself. I know i can't possibly offer endgame knowledge to the forums because of my lack of accomplishments in FFXI, but i can at least help at this.
Kytele -- I believe I should have your vote because I have encompassing points of view. I like flowers and kitty cats and machetes and lollipops. I've been around the forums since the dawn of dinosaurs. In fact, I AM a dinosaur. I'll eat you. But not really. Just kidding. Let's be friends. This is a graphical representation of after being modded:

I am on these boards almost 24/7 (is that bad??) and know a lot of this place's history (bad x2??). Also, you guys see me here everywhere although you guys may not know it. THAT COOL SIG THAT GUY'S GOT? YA THAT WAS ME. Vote 4 me pls <3
Maguspk -- Why I should be a moderator? I don't see the need to ever have to use the moderator power based on what I see on BG on a daily basis. The people do a generally good job of maintaining order on the forums and making sure things/people don't get out of hand. I browse the forums often enough to where if the need ever arises, wherein something needed to be done quickly, I believe I'd catch it within a fairly decent amount of time so as to prevent any sort of issues that might have arisen. Besides that, I don't think I've ever gone out of my way to make anything personal and despite disagreeing with people in topics where disagreements are appropriate, I'd say I have a clean record with a majority of the forum members. That being said, Vote Magus.
Pergo -- I'd like the BG Community to consider me for a moderator position. I've been a loyal member of the forums for almost 3 years now, and while I may not have as many posts as some of the hardcore-posters, most of my post-count comes from useful or substantial questions and comments. People on here might remember me as "The Almighty Apkallu Guy", as I did alot of work trying to figure out that NM, as well as Ravin Raven. Although my Carbuncle pals know me for much more! Anyways, I know the rules of the forums and will work to do my part and keep the community moderated and going strong.
RKenshin -- I know this should probably be more about me marketing myself somehow than anything else, but I feel the reasons for my interest are more important. I'll say right off the bat I'm not on the forums as much as I used to, but it has everything to do with a loss of free time and nothing to do with the forum itself. As much as I hate to admit it I'll probably be playing FF for a really long time still, and as long as that's true this will always be the forum I spend the most time monitoring. Without a doubt and for a long time now this forum has been on the top, housing the most advanced players, studies, and information from each server all the while remaining incredibly clean and reliable. As such I'd love to do a part to assist in keeping it this way if the help is needed, as I hate to see people ruin it. I feel that I tend to be fair and reasonable and yaddaya, but I recognize that my primary disadvantage is likely the time I spend monitoring. Knowing this I'd be more than happy to see someone as a moderator that can devote more time, but I thought I'd put my interest out there anyway.
Ryko -- Well it's safe to say I've probably (outrightly or otherwise) insulted the greater majority of this forum, whether or not I get along with them on a regular basis, but for all of the crap I give people or SE for their rather lackluster offerings lately it's safe to say I'm not blindly hating or being a fanboy of much of anything (and if you say chicken you can go die). I have a decent sense of humor and can be helpful (albeit somewhat rarely) and why does this sound like I'm on a dating site? Anyway I think that while blunt or rude to varying extents that it's pretty safe to say that I do like the community and think I'd be a passable moderator. Granted I'm no Ruke but most people think I am half the time so maybe I can use that angle to score some extra votes.
Siniroth -- Well, I pretty much spend all my online time around bg, so I don't need to lurk more. Stupid people annoy me and repeating answered questions gets on my nerve. I know enough about the game to know when someone's spouting nonsense. I'm pretty impartial on everything you could think of, assuming you haven't pissed me off in some way.
Spekkio -- Hi, I'm Spekkio from Kujata, AKA "The Pompous Acorn." Big fan of spending way way too much time overanalyzing questions and concocting outlandish, horribly impractical ideas (see the 16 Modus Veritas I suggested for sch.) I'm a mod for our LS boards, though mostly there it's for administrative stuff, like managing lots and the like. Sorry I'm not very good with speeches, so I'll cut this short here and have some

instead.
Therin -- I feel that I would make a strong candidate for moderator because I've always enjoyed contributing to the community here. I lurk the forums almost constantly, hours daily, and I try my best to always be helpful and answer questions. I have a good sense of humor and can take jokes very well. Sometimes I come across as jerk when people are being stupid or silly, but I try to be as diplomatic as possible most of the time and apologetic when I step out of line. I also have phpBB experience and have been responsible for leading in-game for several years, now, with a fairly vast knowledge of in-game mechanics. Thanks for your consideration.
Thestalkmore -- The BG you know today is a juggernaut--an ontological, epistemological, and monumental force greater than the mass of a thousand dying stars, the emotional power of the passing of one bucketless comrade, and the incontrovertible culinary divinity of the cake at the end of the last portal. With that indubitable greatness comes the inevitable flood of cancerous legions set to blight that which is good, that which is right...that which is the love and heart of a community far greater than anything the internet has ever laid its infantile sight on. That glorious notion, that glorious proposition, that glorious concept which is BG Forums, must be defended; it must be purged of the pernicious, the toxic, the specious, and the virulent. Do not trust in those who offer false promises of a better tomorrow. Trust those who have been there to witness the days of a better past. Trust those who will save BG: your home, your life, your everything.
Valisk -- I believe I would make a good moderator because I'm open-minded, level-headed, and unbias towards most things. I follow the rules and dont mind enforcing them even if the masses hate me for it. I understand that I would have certain duties as a mod and plan to execute my role to the best of my ability.
