I used to be big into podcasts a few years back before my work unblocked most media sites. I mainly listened to sports and political ones, but I'd occasionally listen to Kevin Smith or a now defunct radio morning show called Bubba the Love Sponge. Now that I'm unemployed I may check some of the ones listed here out.
I'd also look into satellite radio too if I were you. I had a free year of it after I bought my car and I really loved it and miss it a lot.
I'm a pretty big fan of the Slate Daily Podcasts. Their three main ones are Hang Up and Listen (the sports podcast, some of the most intelligent sports talk I've ever heard), the Political Gabfest, and the Culture Gabfest. They each come out once a week and they're all entertaining. Their language podcast Lexicon Valley is also pretty good, but you better be a pretty big linguist nerd or it could be pretty boring.

The set I've settled on for awhile is
Tech News Today - take a wild guess
The Pod F. Tompkast - a fairly all-over-the-place comedy podcast with Paul F. Tompkins
Thrilling Adventure Hour - really funny and entertaining audio skit show featuring various comedians and actors
But seriously my list is the best
This American Life
Radiolab
My Brother My Brother and Me
I know this wasn't in your initial posting of genre's, but I really enjoy "We're Alive". It's a full cast podcast show with sound effects about a zombie apocalypse. It's kind like Walking Dead and it's quite well done in terms of writing.

Im a big fan of Dave Navarro (6767.com) and his podcast Dark Matter. Its his radio show on moheak radio where he basically fucks around with his co-hosts and random callers. Random topics mostly but atm he gives alot of insight into the inner workings of his Ink Master show and his experiences with hook body suspensions.
Also Kevin Pereira has a new podcast that just started recently #POINTLESS on deathsquad.tv. Alot of his topics is internet news related and he usually has a special guest he talks/interviews. (recent ones include Bobcat Goldthwait, Freddy Wong, Zack Pearlman)
These are mostly light mood comedy fun stuff to listen to about random topics.
Anything with Joey Diaz on it is instant god-tier.
My brother my brother and me has many moments of lulz so I'll second that too. Gamers with jobs is entertaining too.
I'll second Adam Corolla as well as Joe Rogan.
I can't recommend "RadioLab" and "This American Life" enough. They are absolutely fascinating shows and are almost guaranteed to change your perspective on something.
I second "We're Alive!" at http://www.zombiepodcast.com/ it's a really well done audio drama that has great sound effects and a pretty addicting story. Every episode ends in a cliff hanger so it keeps you coming back for more!
My favorite podcast at the moment is "Mysterious Universe" over at http://mysteriousuniverse.org/ the description from the website states,
"Mysterious Universe covers the strange, extraordinary, weird, and wonderful and everything in between. On these pages you will find the latest news on topics as unorthodox as the UFO Phenomenon, Ghosts and Hauntings, and Cryptozoology, along with the latest in Science, Technology, and Astronomy.
We give our audience a unique collection of content that is challenging to old views and conventional wisdom. Our open minded approach allows us to view all possibilities without being confined by the limits of preconceived ideas."
They take everything with a grain of salt and it's more about just entertaining weird stories that will make you laugh and interesting science and space topics then super serious tinfoil hat stuff (Though that gets thrown in there too!).
Also check out the "To The Best Of Our Knowledge" Podcast. Updated weekly, another NPR podcast.
Cnet puts out a pretty good daily that /randomly jumps between the op's topics called the404 that features a white video game reviewer from jersey, an Asian Hipster from San Fran and a music producer all taking place in new York.
Nice that they have a budget and even go to trade shows like e3 and comicon.
