Desktop screen stuck in landscape mode - Android

Got an old Nexus One with Cyanogenmod 7.2.

Took out the phone from my pocket and the screen is stuck sideways. Going into apps or settings switches it back (rotation works too) but as soon as I get back to start its stuck sideways. Ive resetted rotation-settings and even downloaded gps status and recalibrated the whole thing, still stuck.

Anyone got any ideas, googling just turns up "reboot the phone and/or remove the battery"-bullshit answers

when I had this problem with my old galaxy s1 I would reboot the phone or pull the battery. dunno man, thats all I can think of as well

Use a custom launcher, like ADW or any of the other hundreds that exist. On ADW, goto ADWSettings > UI Settings > Screen Preferences > Home Orientation this allows you to specify which orientation you want (portrait or landscape).

When you turn auto-rotation off, it automatically goes to landscape after idle/sleep, with that mod you have. If you want to change that, we can customize the ROM and change the default (it's like 5 lines of code within the ROM and kernel)
