but its not like Dalamud itself made any direct impact to cause a crater.. it was all just shooting mini meteors, the pillars of dalamud and bahamut flareja-ing everything

I was assuming the gigaflare/teraflare/whatever would make a pretty sizable crater. Maybe it was more of an Independence Day style fire wave rather than a huge impact.

Anyways.. a theory that my friends are going at is that Odin shows up and puts a stop to Bahamut's sheniagains and forces Bahamut into hiding. (not before owning the shit out of Losiux tho)

Maybe Shiva uses Diamond Dust on the gigaflare and neutralises it, but also turning Mor Dhona into the snowy region we've seen in the early trailer.

True, but with the emphasis we've seen on primals in that poster maybe all the primals join forces in some way to stop him. Imagine a 7 primals vs Bahamut fight.

Yeah yeah, and then they all link like Voltron and blast him down with Ultima..

But really, if we are speculating, what happened, happened. I think it will pick up with the Adventures coming back to the world after the destruction and rebuilding, with Bahamut being top dog of the land sitting like a king in his labyrinth.

It's already been confirmed (I believe it was a Q/A in the last live letter?) that something else happens when the end of an era trailer fades to white which explains why bahamut's in his labrynth and stuff. I'm with others who say Odin pops up and cheap shots him on his megaflare attempt, possibly forcing him to hide away and gather up more aether or something.

Taking a zantetsuken and surviving would probably set him back pretty far, and if Odin turns out to be a knight of the twelve or something it could certainly go some ways to him being another elder primal.

On a random tangent, with both Bahamut and Odin on the scene I hope we get alexander coming back as an elder primal some time in the future, love that guy (especially in IX) and he's had some epic fights with both in previous FFs.

Umm, I thought the letter just said that the story and CS will just pick right back up where it ended. I could be wrong, only read it once and haven't looked back. But, if that is the case, it could just mean we see it pick back up with Bahamut owning shit and the world rebuilding. Which personally would make sense why we have a new world and everything is different. If Bahamut is stopped, personally I think it would kind of screw with the story of why everything has changed and there has been a 5 year gap. Yes, it would seem the City-states are pretty much wiped out before he does the flare, but I wouldn't think there was enough damage to cause the whole world to change if he was stopped. Odin will show his pretty face for a major role in the story, but I just don't think it will involve him stopping Bahamut. Of course, all just my opinion.

It appears that Bahamut was not allowed to roam around freely, which is why there is a labyrinth and why the world has recovered. The whiteout at the end of the End of Era trailer takes place right before something happens. [Odin after all?]

Quoted from the JP translation thread on the forums. The last bit is just someone's speculation added, that I agree with.

Edit: Also ditto about leaks, a PM would be great if there's anything :D

You hear the same screams Bahamut has been doing thorough the entire video.

He makes the same high pitched roars at 3:49, 3:58, 4:30. I guess Odin must've been inside Bahamut all along, making the entire thing an Inceptprison.

Gotta remember those 'keys' that shot out of Dalamud wrecking things too. The biggest reason there could still be so much terrain destruction/change is that the events in the final CS heavily disrupted the flow of Aether throughout the continent.
