I think Yoshi said recently they may leave the servers open until the end of the year and that they will check server logins every other day and decide whether to send more invites. So still plenty time. Even getting in for a few days before they shut it down would be nice.

I really hope they are making a list and they never invite these players into alpha or beta. Sadly some of them managed to get in with the first wave and are complaining already.
Better stick to reports and feedback, ignore every other section for your own sanity.

Roommate and I had identical answers on the form except for name and why we want to be alpha testers. He put that 1.0 failed to meet his expectations, I don't recall what I put but he got in.

Edit: Its like I told you earlier in the thread, these people don't care about what happens to the game. At all. They didn't care that it failed initially, except for that the end result ended up inconveniencing them because the servers went down for SE to work on 2.0. They don't care about the future of the game either, because, to them, the game was absolutely fine, simply because it has SE on the front and because "its not like WoW!"

Far be it for me to suggest that SE outright throw away their voice (not very cool in a democratic way, man), but I pray to Altana at night that they aren't having second guesses based on the sheer sound-based frequency of which these salty neckbeards whine their asses off.

Perhaps SE can make some sort of side-game that is essentially XI HD with the current 1.0 models, that costs $50 a month to play and offers no content upgrades - forever locked in 2005 - so that these people can finally die in heaven and actually put out enough money to financially support a SE product on their own backs. Then they can leave the rest of us alone that seek to embrace 2013 and what SE can offer in this current generation.

With any luck Yoshi and the devs realize the rabid morons asking for more shit and XI 2.0 are so devout to SE that they'll play regardless, so they can be safely ignored while they go ahead and make a game that's actually good.

Democracy is largely overrated.

I've probably put around 30 good hours in and I'm still not "maxed" on everything, so you'll get out of it what you put in. Its good times, though; I doubt anyone on here will be too underwhelmed.

I'm sure there's some form of randomness thrown in, but I wonder what might be found out about what kind of tester they might be prioritizing if alpha testers were to cross-reference what they all put down (assuming they even remember).

Probably testers with a powerful rig and lots of cross-MMO experience. Possibly even testers that have all of this, but didn't play 1.0 for very long come retail. Who knows.

I'll rephrase, it's not entirely random but the factors that whittle down the pool of random-ees probably have nothing to do with how much you did or didn't play or pay for the game.

The biggest one I assume would be region and after that PC specs and connection speed, tho from what I remember people saying about the application the speeds they recommended were absurdly high (though not for JP players probably, them and their fucking awesome internet service....).

There's no randomness or very little, Yoshida clearly stated that they picked these testers depending on region and PC specs so they could have a wider range of testing available.
If you're in EU like me you simply got lucky because they received less requests for alpha so your chances are way higher than anyone in NA.

God bless the Youth movement in SE. Every company stagnates when left to rot at the hands of old, out-of-touch, power-hungry men.

I feel like Honda should take a few tips from SE right now. God knows they could use a shot of youth in the arm.

ohhh wow...and i thought the WoW playerbase was full of entitled morons...yet somehow those 'people' on the OF manage to outdo them spectacularly, but to parrot whats already been said i have faith that Yoshida has to good sense to sift through the shitstorm and find the common sense of those who actually want this game to succeed

i haven't been on very long due to work and i don't know what's allowed to be said or not and i'd rather be safe than sorry but... i am pretty damn happy and this is only alpha. wow

only complaint right now, and it wouldn't even be realistic to expect it, is the lack of a lot of graphics options
