Still no invite. lol
Still no invite. lol
If we think people are mad now just wait until beta invites go out and some OF legacy members are left outside the club. I'm buying stock in the keyboard business.
I'm actually glad I didn't get an invite today, I would have been pissed to get invited then not be home all weekend because of Art Basel. Besides, who am I kidding? With my luck theres no way I'm getting an invite lol
Personally looking forward more to a beta then an alpha invite, as alpha is more a game basic functionality test, making sure no weird stuff is happening, getting a broad system test etc. Beta will be a much bigger field to test a larger part of the game and more systems with all the features they mentioned they will be adding like (think it was) alpha settings, hair physics, boob jiggle physics.. the important stuff! O_o
I am now the only person in my circle of friends who hasn't gotten an invite ~_~. Even my wife has gotten an invite and she cares more about beta than alpha due to the controller option being added. I'm trying to be the patient husband and not delete her character to play on my own since she's enjoying trying everything with her Miqo'te, but it's getting tempting after watching her play so much of it.
Yeah, my game spread is getting a little stale while I'm just pining to try this shit out. Looks like it's going to be final beta phase onry for me~
3/3 now but my other pc ate shit a week ago.![]()
epic sadfaceand I'm going to be alone with a free weekend for once. It is true that beta is better but still.
Best day ever! I'm a bit sad to uninstall XIV to make room on my SSD though![]()
Having seen the combat vid and so (yeah I know it's low level, but still), what do they expect to be the reason people choose this game over already established titles with what seems to be more or less the same gameplay? I mean apart from the "Final Fantasy" in the title.
I hope it's more than story, because that will only keep you interested for so long.
I thought Yoshi-P or whatever his name is forbid their dev team to say things like "it's only alpha" (not saying you're in the dev team). But in all reality, there's little pointing on a gameplay that isn't very close to a number of games already released. Not sure how I feel about that. I hope they show something of value during the beta.
I believe the logic is something like:
- XI was a FF derivative of the then-market leader (EQ), it did well
- XIV 1.0 tried to be a unique snowflake, it failed
- XIV 2.0 will therefore be a FF derivative of the now-market leader (WoW) for great success
The only problem I have with this logic is all of the other WoW clones that have failed spectacularly. Still, given that SE just tried an all-new and unique FF MMO (and failed horribly because of terrible vision), it makes the most sense to play it safe for XIV.
If Yoshi can show that he can make a pretty good derivative of the leading MMO (which would again give them console exclusivity in that market, just like XI had), that should be enough to restore the FF MMO brand. Then, if he's interested in staying around, he'll probably have the opportunity to create something totally unique for XVII (just as Tanaka was given). Of course, that presumes that "unique" is even something that should be a goal; XI was a fairly shameless EQ clone and it was a fine game.
