I didn't notice the email saying I'd gotten in until late at night. As soon as I saw it, I went through all the steps, downloaded it, anxious to play and... maintenance. Figures.

i feel your pain, just checked my emails and low and behold that was waiting for me, needless to say my heart sank like a man with cement shoes![]()
Are you kidding me SE?
I just got an e-mail offering me to... register for Alpha! So I figured I must have somehow registered from another account/email but no, turns out I actually registered from this very email/account and haven't been selected (yet) !
Stop trolling me SE %ç"*%ç*&
Got the email and just applied, didn't think people who hadn't played for a year+ would be able to get into alpha.
Here's hoping my european account gets me in quick (even though I'm no longer in europe)
My understanding is that if you're sending out more emails to get people to apply its that you actually lack people with the right profile to be part of the Alpha.
I played the first couple months of 1.0 but left because it wasn't what I was hoping for (duh), I mentionned my great rig, good internet connexion, way too much free time, experience as an active beta tester for many game etc. Don't want to flatter myself here, but quite frankly what's the kind of people they're looking for if not people that have/had great interest for the game and have the time, hardware and experience to provide feedbacks ?
Might aswell ignore them and send out more emails to get more applicants!
Sigh
People take the whole selection process too seriously.
This is the inter webs after all
Is combat as slow as it looks in that latest video?
The combat is not slow. The cast times might be, but it's not like it's not usual mage experience at low levels.
Meh. It's not cool to get trolled by "hey! you should apply to be an Alpha tester!" email when you're anxiously checking your inbox everyday hoping for a good news.
Not really cool either to see SE looking for more Alpha testers when they have yet to invite people that have shown interest weeks ago and could very well do the job.
It's just a bit silly, that's all
Still too serious![]()
Says someone that got invited and didn't get trolled
Hmpfff
True :D
But even when I was not getting in the whole rage on this on OF etc was pretty amusing.
The most annoying part is that if these people they're trying to reach out to cared about alpha testing that much they would have signed up already by now. No doubt they'll clog up the invites, play for an hour or two and never login again.
At least with the way invites are handled (monitoring logins) it won't take away actual invites for more than 2-3 days, which is also why I can't get pissed at people receiving their third invites.
I'm probably going to lie on my beta app because there must be something wrong with the way I fill these out, didn't even get into V1 alpha or closed beta.
Mage... eh... I can't say much outside the video, but I will say this. I'm not impressed at all, and am looking forward to seeing what changes are around for beta. If mages stay the way they currently are, I don't think a lot of new people are going to enjoy them. Lets leave it at that.
