    WII Minii?

This is all rumors, but according to a leak on Canadian Best Buy site a Wii Mini should be released around December 7 (no price told)

The rumor that Wii Mini so next month gets thick with the appearance of a first image of the machine on the home page of Best Buy Canada.

You can see a black machine and almost square, surrounded by a sort of protective shell as red as the Wiimote comes with. However, the brand seems to have drawn a little too early, since the link to the booking console returns to the page of Skylanders Giants on Wii. Knowing that the Wii Mini is promised for December 7, should be fixed soon anyway.

Haven't you heard that the wii is the most popular console for netflix streaming (more than ps3 and 360)?

    Exclusive to Canada...

After nearly 100 million sold worldwide, Nintendo's Wii console is getting a new look and a new price. On Dec. 7, the new Wii Mini home console launches in Canada at a suggested retail price of just $99.99 and puts the focus squarely on Wii games. The system can play more than 1,400 disc-based Wii games. Wii Mini is smaller than the original Wii system, and comes in matte black with a red border. The system comes with a red Wii Remote Plus, a red Nunchuk controller and works with most Wii accessories.

"There are games in the Wii library for every type of player," said Ron Bertram, Nintendo of Canada's vice president and general manager. "Wii Mini is a great gift for the holidays that brings everyone in the family together to play. Wii Mini has a mini price, but it's all about big fun."

Wii Mini is designed exclusively to play Wii games. Its family-friendly design has no Internet capabilities and does not play Nintendo GameCube games. It's a great value for first-time Wii owners who just want to jump in and experience all the great Wii games that helped usher in a revolution in motion-controlled gaming. Wii games are available at a variety of price points for every kind of shopper

Wii Mini is available exclusively in Canada during the holiday season. No information is available about its potential availability in other territories in the future.

Launch a new system? Why not roll out a new sku that is exclusive only to one territory.

Design doesn't look too bad, but the lack of internet and backwards compatibility is one big "hell no."

This is pretty much for out-of-touch adults who only want it for Wii Fit, Wii Sports, or [insert terrible generic party game here].

Though I can't imagine stripping those features really saved very much money on hardware... considering they had to alter the software along with it just to make this "core" system.

It's actually not a bad price considering the normal Wii is still well over $150. The loss of backwards and VC is a dealbreaker for a hardcore Nintendo fan but at this point those people already have a Wii or either own or are planning to pick up the WiiU. Being Canada only is still very lol worthy though.

My Wii is too big, and has too many features. Can someone make me a smaller, barebones system please?

    this hurts my brain

I'm baffled at the lack of internet access. Even if it has no WiFi to keep costs down, at least allow you to do internet via the USB-2-Ethernet adapter.

Regardless, half of the system price is the controller........, if it weren't an ugly red border I may have considered picking one up for collection purposes, or as a Netflix box for the parents since it's the same price as a damn Roku box.

[EDIT] Makes one wonder if the lack of internet access is because Nintendo is actually planning on shutting down the Wii Store/etc for it in the following year, to focus on making WiiU's better.

It does seem odd to omit internet access as the Virtual Console should (at least it was for people I know) be a big selling point and when coupled with the Netflix data, doesn't make sense to leave it out. That said, this isn't a global launch of a new SKU so it may not be right to jump to big conclusions like the Wii Store shutting down, but if they did shut it down in order to better incorporate the Virtual Console into the eShop, bring it on because the Wii menu in the Wii U sucks.
