It interests me to know that that the common conscience around here when it comes to Chinese-Japanese relationships is mutual hatred, when from my perspective it seems that it's more of a one-way hatred by the Chinese (government) whereas the Japanese attitude is more akin to dislike.

The biggest source of 'hatred' the Japanese have of the Chinese is mostly directed against the Japanese government because of their capitulation-like foreign policies, such as giving into multiple Chinese demands of apologies and concessions - examples being the fact that the Japanese government had still sent $1.2 billion in aid every year to China in 2010 despite the fact that they already surpassed Japan in GDP by that point.

Edit: On a similar but lesser-known note, the Japanese government also spends $2.02 billion annually to support U.S. military forces in the country, which some Japanese view it as tribute to the US, and is hence not really looked upon on a very positive note.

After what the Japanese did in WW2 to China, I'm not surprised they're still giving them money. Some of the photos and videos I've seen still make me sick to my stomach and I've seen a LOT of shit in my life in person.

Going by that argument, because the US literally burned 50% of Tokyo to the ground in their series of air-raids including the largest one ever performed in history and dropping two Atomic Bombs, should the US said annual aid to Japan as well?

Of course, people can then say that they don't have to because the US won the war and Japan didn't. But technically China didn't win the war against Japan either. And then there's the whole slew of 'occupied' territories throughout the world and history in which the victims didn't receive a single dime despite them being the victors or victims, most apparent being places where it became victims of colonization. Not to mention what the government that sprang up after the occupation did against their very own citizens too. In the end, the question becomes - just how much is enough? And there really is no answer to that. But going by historical amounts, the Japanese are pretty much one of the most generous countries in giving out such aid, yet some still complain that it's not enough. There is no end.

To solve these problems, treaties, pacts and agreements are signed to absolve such issues so everything is finalized, at least on paper. Therefore, problems arises when the other party starts demanding more despite the fact that such pacts and agreements are already in place. Can you blame them for being pissed about it then?

Somewhat unrelated, but speaking of Japanese-Chinese relations during world war 2. I strongly recommend researching Unit 731 for anyone who doesn't know about it. I'd post the wiki link but a little short on posts. Shit made my skin crawl with the type of human experiments preformed. Vivisection without anesthesia, 400k Chinese killed by germ warfare experiments, oh and prisoners injected with animal blood to name a few.

Not to mention that a lot of the researchers avoided capture/ trials due to being granted immunity by the Douglas Mc Arthur, all adds to that skin-crawly feeling.
