Whenever I see these huge numbers of such and such people killed/captured/forced into slavery by Japanese army/navy/experiments/weapons or whatever, it sometimes makes me wonder why the hell the Japanese did NOT win the war.

I mean really. Some of the 'accomplishments' makes the Japanese army look like a bunch of super-soldiers that really do control Gundams.

because of a basic understanding of warfare ?

Japan never had the capacity to reduce a territory the size of China, even at their zenith they controlled only a fraction of the nation, and they were never remotely capable of out-dueling a United States that had ten times the manufacturing power of a (relatively) backwards island nation totally reliant on exports and western technology

Japan's technological revolution would come in the post-war period; during the war they were totally eclipsed by America, overawed in everything from self-sealing fuel tanks on fighter aircraft to cryptography to sonar

they were really good at raping the women and murdering the civilians of other Asian states whose trajectory had been retarded by European colonialism though, i'll grant them that

Death counts of civilian casualties and war crimes aren't much of an indication of actual military capability. Civilian deaths almost always dwarf military deaths for any country subject to invasion, unfortunately they're terribly easy to kill.

Besides, it wasn't China that shut down the Japanese. If they hadn't made the mistake of involving the US they probably could have gone on doing their (horrible) thing for quite a while even after the war ended in Europe (though by the end of it all it's not like any nation could claim innocence).

The Chinese did rally and push Japan out once they stopped fighting each other and started both fighting the Japanese. Unfortunately for China, this allowed the Communists to come out on top afterwards. No foreign army would be able to hold China indefinitely though. To big and too many people. The only way to even attempt is to just wipe out the majority of the citizenry capable of fighting.

China hypothetically claiming some of the Queen's lands? She'll be hypothetically pissed!

Foreign politics are a lot like playground politics when you look closely: the big ones always bully the small ones; at least China is upfront about it, unlike some...

China: “Well, we could claim Hawaii."

I remember seeing a documentary stating the UK had explicit knowledge that the Japanese were going to attack Pearl Harbor and let it slide in order to get the US in the war.

If you could remember where you saw it I'd be interested in reading/seeing it.

Vivisection without anesthesia, 400k Chinese killed by germ warfare experiments, oh and prisoners injected with animal blood to name a few.

Not to mention that a lot of the researchers avoided capture/ trials due to being granted immunity by the Douglas Mc Arthur, all adds to that skin-crawly feeling.

Most people in the US don't know much about Unit 731 since most of their experimentation was directed on the Chinese. But these guys were just as bad as the Nazis if not worse.

Nah, he would defect to Japan and take the top secret nuclear submarine with him...and he would start speaking with a Welsh accent.

Who wouldn't want Hawaii? A Beautiful island inhabited by beautiful people, even better than Buburimu Peninsula! lol

Heya Stan, long time no see, come back to the game for expansion? Where is Wiz?
I kinda got back to the game last year for a little bit, currently dormant

Nah, only on the boards due to me playing (played) FFXIV. Wiz's retired from MMO's altogether.

Ahh-ha I see. Well, good to run into old pals once in a while.

Drinking a Mai Tai on a Hawaiian white sand beach that is full of warm and waving fire torches at night, right next to the crystal blue ocean that perfectly reflect the clear moon.
And eat at a Japanese Ramen shop for a Ramen Combo, preferably Shio based soup and Kara-Age on the side.

Ahh Hawaii... come to my dreams tonight!
