Fear of Obama drove people to vote GOP in 2010 and that hasn't loosed its grip on the party, but this has been fermenting ever since Reagan. The politics of fear mean anybody with a sensible agenda doesn't get votes. An emotional response is always stronger and comes faster than a rational one.

I feel ya. For me, the GOP got into bed with social reactionaries and religious nutjobs, and now that the base is shrinking it's faced with the extremely difficult choice of moving more center while risking the alienation of solid red areas, or going even more extreme and sacrificing national politics for local and state control. Honestly I think the best case scenario is a fractured party, let the tea partiers and Rushites try to survive on their own, but sadly that would never happen.

Part of me wants to have Chris Christie as the nominee in 2016 but the other part of me realizes that I don't know a whole lot about him and that given the recent track record of every republican I think I like ending up being buttfuck stupid that he might just be another such case.

I feel like this is still a loss for most people even though a deal was done. Taxes are still going up for the poor and middle class. It's not as much but still an increase. Yet they raise the tax bracket or whatever it's called for people who still could have afforded a little more.

I look at pictures of her from four years ago and look at pics of her from 2 days ago and I think by the time 2016 rolls around she'll be dust in a jar.

I wouldn't consider a blood clot by itself a non starter as she has years to recoup from being Secretary of State and the hellish stress that came along with that.

She's still the de facto candidate for 2016 and she's got a touching story of being so dedicated to the position she's willing to battle stomach viruses, concussions and a potential stroke for the American people. You could drape the whole thing in an American flag and watch the patriotism do the rest.

Pretty much what Ronin said. Nothing short of dying will keep her from being the candidate. It will be hard for the GOP to top Romney in terms of "foot in mouth, stupid shit done and said" for next election...well Rick Santorum could top him.

Well, the presidency has its fair,share of stressful events too lol.

I can just see a hilldog in 4 years laying in bed with SCDs and a heparin drip. Hell, I can't imagine much of a toll the primary and campaign would take on her.
